NEW YORK, NY -- Family Services of Westchester (FSW) is thrilled to announce that Leah Sills, resident of New Rochelle, has joined its Board of Directors. 

Leah has deep roots in the New Rochelle and Westchester community. She has volunteered with the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence, FSW’s Sharing Shelf program and served as the Barnard Early Childhood Center PTA President. Leah is currently a librarian at Riverdale Country School and is a contributing member of the Sills Family Foundation.

Astorino, Murphy Announce 12 New Drop Boxes for Unused Meds

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that 12 additional drop boxes for unused prescription drugs have been brought to the county thanks to an $8,000 state grant secured by Sen. Terrence Murphy (R-Yorktown).  The proper disposal of unused prescription meds is critical so as they do not get into our water systems or into the hands of people who can misuse them.  Both men spoke of the local heroin epidemic that can often start with prescription drug abuse.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Dorothy E. Rose, a long-time resident of New Rochelle, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2016.

She was born in Waterbury, CT. on April 27, 1925 to James and Mary (nee Morrissey) Kelly, she moved to New Rochelle when she was 3. She graduated from Albert Leonard High School in 1942 and married her husband in January of 1946. After raising her children, Dorothy worked at the New Rochelle Public Library, retiring as the head of circulation in 1988.

Library Board of Trustees Fill Vacancy

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- At their January 14th Board of Trustees meeting, the New Rochelle Public Board of Trustees announced that the vacant seat on the Board of Trustees would be filled by lifelong resident Dierdra Clark.  Ms. Clark will be filling the remainder of the second year of the five-year term formerly held by Emery Schweig, who resigned in November due to personal reasons. This second year will conclude on June 30, 2015.
