NEW YORK, NY --The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) today announced the launch of an unprecedented effort to inspect emergency homeless shelters statewide. This effort is designed to ensure that shelters are safe, clean, supervised and well-maintained, as well as fully compliant with state and local laws and regulations, and will utilize audit reports and analysis produced by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, and Buffalo Comptroller Mark Schroeder.

GETTING RESULTS: LaRocca Served with Removal Notice for East Street Violations

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Flavio LaRocca was one of five property owners along East Street and East Place near the Skate Park at City Park on Fifth avenue were served a “Notice to Remove” last fall, Talk of the Sound has confirmed. The move by city officials comes in the wake of an incident last spring when LaRocca converted public property behind the Skate Park into a parking lot for his workers.

Snow Removal Operations in New Rochelle Get a Grade of B+

As residents dig out from the Blizzard of 2016, I wanted to take a few minutes to share what I observe over the weekend and respond to some of the complaints made about snow removal which I believe are misguided.

New Rochelle received, unofficially, 21 inches of snow with greater amounts further from shore. The City of New Rochelle ran four 12-hour shifts with 22 trucks over the weekend.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona women’s basketball team moved back into first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings with a 64-49 win over the Monmouth Hawks Sunday evening.

Senior Joy Adams matched her all-time career-average against the Monmouth Hawks with a game-high 20 points and 15 rebounds.  Junior Marina Lizarazu came just shy of a double-double, scoring 13 and recording nine assists.
