NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Hollywood couldn't have scripted a better season finale for the Monroe College women's basketball team on Sunday, as they overcame playing with just four players in the second half, to hang on and defeat Dean College, 65-61, on Sophomore Day.  Prior to the game, Shania Johnson, Brenna Dennis and Gabrielle Jubinville were honored for their service to the program.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Monroe College has a campus in the Bronx, New Rochelle, Queens and St. Lucia, but with the way the track and field team has performed in Boston this season, they should contemplate opening up a satellite campus there as well because the Mustangs turned in another stellar performance at the David Henry Valentine Invitational at Boston University.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's basketball team scored 19 straight points early in the first half to pull away from Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference leading Monmouth in front of the largest crowd in the history of the Multipurpose Activities Center. The Gaels gained a game on the Hawks in the league standings in the convincing 83-67 road victory.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- They saved the best for last.  After three other lopsided semi-final contests in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs, the #2 seed College of New Rochelle Womens Basketball team and its opponent #3 seed Davis College, gave the large crowd something to remember.  After two extra periods the Angels pulled out the thrilling 81-79 victory to advance to the finals tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm against top-seed Albany Pharmacy College.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle hosted an Athletics Open House on Saturady afternoon, which featured an added surprise for those in attendance.  Former Yankee star pitcher and friend of the College, Mariano Rivera stopped by to welcome the prospective student-athletes and their families and share a few words of encouragement.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College lacrosse team was stopped by Brown University in its first road contest of the season, 13 to 11. In a back-and-forth game, the Gaels were unable regain control despite a late comeback attempt. 

Junior Erin Pugh continued her hot start to the season, netting three goals and dishing out three assists. She now has nine goals on the year. Senior Mary Kate McCormick facilitated the Gaels offense dishing out five assists this afternoon; she also put up one goal.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence invites you to a dance performance by New Rochelle High School students who participated in the Alvin Ailey Dance Intensive this week. The students have worked hard and enjoyed learning about various dance techniques and about the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. The performance is Saturday, February 20th from 2:30 pm to 3:30 in the Whitney Young Auditorium at New Rochelle High School.
