NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Edna Mae Fadem, of New Rochelle, NY, 88, died peacefully on February 2, 2016, surrounded by her beloved husband of 67 years, Leroy {"Lee") and her family. The daughter of the late Charles and Patricia Raizen, "Sunny" lit up every room she entered. She loved life and her passions were family, gardening, music, world affairs and travel with Lee.

NRFD helps YMCA fill pool

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle YMCA closed its pool doors for renovations in December 2014.  At that time the Y launched it’s Be A Lifesaver Capital Campaign to raise money to keep the Y open for the community.  Through a series of fundraisers, and help from the local elected officials, the YMCA was able to secure a  1 million dollar grant from the New York State Dormitory Authority.  On Tuesday, the pool was filled with water for the first time in over a year.  Thanks to the help of the New Rochelle Fire Department the 130,000 gallon pool was filled in only five hours.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Carol Meyer Stern, 77, of New Rochelle, New York, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016. She was born in New York City, New York on December 3, 1938. There will be a visitation held from 10am to 11am at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 21 West Broad Street, Mount Vernon, New York 10552. Immediately following the visitation at 11am the funeral procession will leave for Cedar Park Cemetery for a Graveside service. Cedar Park Cemetery is located at 735 Forest Avenue in Paramus, New Jersey.

Idoni: 2015 exceeds previous year by $3.44 million

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Revenue statistics released by Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni today indicate the County’s mortgage taxes increased by $3.44 million thanks to a stronger real estate market last year.  The total mortgage tax collected was $18,396,877.44 compared to $14,951,341.58 in 2014.  This was the first time since the year 2006 that revenue exceeded $17 million.  $19,279.695.88 was collected in 2006, at the end of the housing bubble.
