The Star Gala is both FSW’s premier annual fundraising event as well as an opportunity to salute an "All Star" team of local philanthropists and iconic sports heroes.

Pair Of Homers Leads #ICSB To Split In Santa Clara

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College softball program took to the field for day two of the Santa Clara Tournament on Saturday, March 19.  The Gaels split a pair of contests, defeating the host Santa Clara 10-4, and falling to Dartmouth for a second time, 3-6.

GAME 1: Iona 10, Santa Clara 4

Iona opened up the day of competition by busting out 14 hits, dominating the Santa Clara Broncos in a decisive offensive explosion.  Junior outfielder Ashlyn Morris had a pair of hits, along with junior shortstop Katie Newton and sophomore catcher Tani Danner.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College lacrosse team was defeated by Jacksonville University on Saturday afternoon by a finale score of 20 to 5.

The Gaels were led by junior Erin Pugh who had three goals. Senior Mary Kate McCormick also netted one goal and dished out one assist. Freshman Libby Miller chipped in a tally, and Sophomore Jenna Tolzmann  ontributed one assist.  Freshman Danielle Keenan also contributed her first assist of her career.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College softball team dropped the opening pair of contests at the Santa Clara Invitational, falling to Dartmouth 7-2, and Colgate 4-0.

GAME 1: Dartmouth 7, Iona 2

A slow start put Iona in the hole in the opening game of the Friday’s double-header at the Santa Clara tournament.  The Gaels found themselves down five funs before they even approached the box for the their first hacks; Dartmouth poured on the runs in the opening frame, crossing the plate five times via three hits and an error.

UNCW Bests Iona Baseball, 11-1

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College baseball team fell to UNC Wilmington 11-1 in non-conference action at Brooks Field to open its five-game North Carolina trip Friday afternoon.

Junior 1B Lou Matarazzo accounted for the Gaels run with a one-out solo home run over the centerfield fence in the top of the fifth inning. Matarazzo and senior C Carmine Palummo each had two hits in the loss.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College baseball team fell 11-2 in non-conference action at Stony Brook Tuesday. The Seawolves scored six first inning runs and never looked back.

Rookie 2B Sean Breen went 2-for-3 with a walk and was the lone Gael with multiple hits. Freshman RF Fran Kinsey, senior SS Vinny DeMaria, junior 1B Lou Matarazzo, and rookie PH Clay Felice accounted for Iona's other hits. DeMaria had the team's lone extra base hit, a two-out double in the seventh.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The No. 13 seed Iona College men's basketball team cut an 18-point second half deficit to within seven and possession but was held off by No. 4 Iowa State in the final 2:50 in a 94-81 defeat in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Championship at the Pepsi Center. Senior A.J. English had a team-high 28 points and junior Jordan Washington added 26 in the loss.

Strong Hitting Carries Monroe Softball to Sweep of SUNY Delhi in Home Opening Doubleheader

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Some timely hitting in game one capped with an offensive onslaught in game two lifted the Monroe College softball team to a doubleheader sweep of NAIA school, SUNY Delhi, in the 2016 home opener played at City Park in New Rochelle on Saturday. The Mustangs took the opener, 8-7, in eight innings, and crushed the Broncos in the second game, 14-1.
