The fourth annual event will take place at Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 AM and presentations by Mayor Noam Bramson will commence at 1 PM.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- There are the fleeting intimacy of an air kiss, a glimpse of a bend in the iconic Coney Island boardwalk, and three lions staring at the viewer. All of these images are captured by the artistry of 17 Westchester photographers whose works are among the 37 photographs that will be on display in a new juried exhibition at United Hebrew of New Rochelle’s Lazarus Gallery, “A Photographic Journey From Here and Beyond,” April 10–September 9, 2016. The Lazarus Gallery is located at 391 Pelham Road, New Rochelle.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City of New Rochelle has joined more than 100 cities nationwide to “Ban the Box” on its municipal job application, effective this month.  The City’s Ban the Box initiative defers questions on arrests and prior convictions until the job interview. The City’s Civil Service office accepts job applications for the City of New Rochelle, the City School District, the New Rochelle Public Library and the Municipal Housing Authority.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College baseball team got off to an auspicious start against SUNY Sullivan on Tuesday, jumping ahead 6-0 before Sullivan rallied to take a 7-6 lead.  In the end, some cheeky base running helped plate two runs late and lift the Mustangs to an 8-7, come-from-behind win.  The team notched its third straight victory.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College baseball team dropped a ten-inning match against ASA, 13-12, at Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls on Wednesday. The game was the first of a five-game stretch. The loss dropped the Mustangs to 18-9 on the year.

A nine-run second inning and a run in the third catapulted the Avengers to a 10-3 lead. Monroe got lone runs in each of the first three innings on a Cam Crabbe ground out, a Ramger Iglesias sacrifice fly, and a balk by the ASA pitcher.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- After splitting two matches Saturday, the Iona women’s water polo team (8-12 overall, 4-2 MAAC) notched two victories today against Villanova University and Virginia Military Institute in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at Saint Francis College.

GAME 1: Iona 9, Villanova 8

In a see-saw match that featured six ties and three lead changes, Iona pulled out a 9-8 victory over Villanova in the closing minutes.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College lacrosse team defeated Niagara Saturday afternoon, 8-6,  for their first MAAC win of the season. The Gaels were able to hold off a Purple Eagles comeback in the final minutes to pick up the victory.  

Senior Mary Kate McCormick, sophomore Pamela Giordano and junior Grace Celona led the way for the Maroon & Gold with two goals each. Celona also dished out one assist. Juniors Katelyn Noschese and Erin Pugh both netted one score, while Pugh also picked up a helper. Senior Thea Leitman racked up eight saves in net.
