WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester Magazine’s 6th Annual Wine & Food Festival kicked off last night, as participating restaurants and chefs gathered together at Harvest-On-Hudson to celebrate in style and learn about event details. From June 8-12, more than 100 of the County’s top restaurants will participate at Westchester’s premiere culinary festival to serve up signature bites, drinks and demos for a great time to be had by all.

Man Robbed at Gunpoint at Eastchester Road: New Rochelle Police responded to report of an alleged armed robbery March 3 on 30 Eastchester Road, according to the police report. One witness told police she saw two black teenagers run from a building on White Oak Street. A second witness described the same two teenagers and told officers the teenagers pushed past him as he was coming down the stairway. The second witness told police both teenagers were wearing black and one of them was wearing a pink bandana over his face.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County residents can bring their dogs, cats and ferrets in for free rabies vaccinations on Sunday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stamen Animal Hospital, 61 Quaker Ridge Road in New Rochelle.  Call 914-632-1269 FREE to schedule a required appointment.

Cats and ferrets must be in carriers and dogs must be on a leash. Aggressive dogs must be muzzled. No examinations will be given and all pets must be supervised by an adult.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The front doors of City Hall will re-open for public access, effective April 4. The hours will reflect the City’s normal business hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The rear entrance, with handicap accessibility, will remain open as usual and will continue to serve as the exclusive entrance after hours. Visitors using the front entrance will be monitored by security cameras

Iona College Student from Yonkers Shot, Killed in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Brandon Lawrence, 18, a freshman at Iona College from Yonkers was shot and killed Sunday near a centerfield fence on the Bruce Flowers baseball field in Lincoln Park.

Stivenson Desir, 19, of 759 Main Street in New Rochelle was arraigned in New Rochelle City Court on Monday and charged with Murder 2nd Degree. Desir did not appear but he was remanded to the Westchester County jail without setting bail. Desir's next court date is scheduled for April 11 at 9:30 a.m.

Iona College officials confirmed that Lawrence was an Iona student.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Middle School Drop-In Program offers a variety of activities for youth in grades 5th, 6th, and 7th (completed as of June, 2016). It runs from June 27th - August 5th (no program on July 4th) from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The Program takes place at both Middle Schools (Isaac E Young Middle School and Albert Leonard Middle School). Activities include but are not limited to; Arts and Crafts, Sports (Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer), and Board Games. A peanut free lunch is also included.

Registration Continues for Summer Day Camps

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Registration continues for the City of New Rochelle Department of Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camps and Preschool Camp. All run from July 5 - August 12, 2016.

The Summer Day Camps will be held at Ward School and Jefferson School. For graduating kindergarteners through 5th grade, these camps features sports, games, performing arts, nature, tennis, weekly swimming and themed activities as well as day trips.
