WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced a free educational program for caregivers will take place Friday, April 15th at The Westchester County Center, 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The panel discussion will focus on two main topics: “Respite for Caregivers” and “How to Start Your Own Social Adult Day Care Program in Your Community.”

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- In an effort to increase safety at some of the City’s busiest intersections, the New Rochelle Police Department has installed red light cameras at various intersections throughout the City.  Warning signs have been installed and enforcement will begin mid-April.

“The cameras will monitor select locations based on traffic volume and accident data. We hope that their installation will signal to motorists to drive more cautiously throughout the entire City,” said Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll.

Yard Waste Collection Begins April 4

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Department of Public Works, Bureau of Streets and Highways will begin Yard Waste Collection on Monday, April 4, 2016.

Residents are reminded that in order to be collected, yard waste must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day, in accordance with the following guidelines:

•Brush and branches: No longer than 4 feet in length with a diameter of no more than 3 inches, tied in bundles. DO NOT tie with fishing line, tape or metal wire.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Alternate side of the street parking restrictions will resume as of April 1 for those streets and portions of streets subject to winter suspension from Jan. 1-March 31. NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle (CNR) and Westchester Community College (WCC) today signed an articulation agreement that formally enhances the transfer process for eligible WCC students into CNR with advanced standing. The agreement, which will strengthen higher education in Westchester County, will begin in fall 2016.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- At last night’s Board of Education meeting, members of the City School District of New Rochelle Board of Education unanimously approved that a historic $106,479,575 capital bond project proposal will go to voters for consideration on May 17, 2016. The essential work included will protect and preserve buildings and grounds throughout the district and greatly influence the teaching and learning environment for every student, teacher, and staff member in New Rochelle’s school community.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Donald was born on May 17, 1927 and passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016.

Donald was a resident of New Rochelle, New York at the time of his passing.

He graduated from Iona College and Columbia University with a Masters Degree in Chinese language history and culture. He completed his Law degree and J.D. at Brooklyn College.

He was married to Hideko.

Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-4 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl. New Rochelle NY 10805. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday 10:30 at Holy Family Church.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Donald was born on July 27, 1953 and passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.

Donald was a resident of New Rochelle, New York at the time of his passing.

Visiting will be on Monday 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy Sons Beauchamp Chapel 16 Shea Pl New Rochelle. Mass will be on Tuesday 9:30am at St. Gabriel's Church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Organization.
