NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City of New Rochelle Office for the Aging honored ninety senior citizens at the annual Senior Citizen Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, held April 13 at the Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center. The event coincided with last week’s Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service. Mayor Noam Bramson handed out letters of appreciation and New Rochelle pins to the recipients.

“It is a true pleasure to honor dozens of New Rochelle’s outstanding volunteers, and to recognize the vital role of volunteerism in strengthening our entire city” said, Mayor Noam Bramson.

NEW YORK—Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced four separate settlements with auto dealers that return nearly $2 million in restitution to nearly 5,000 consumers and $174,000 in penalties and costs to the state for selling “after-sale” products. 

Among the dealerships are Huntington Honda which owns two dealerships in New Rochelle, Honda of New Rochelle and New Rochelle Toyota.

Huntington Honda fleeced 475 consumers out of $270,950 and has agreed to make restitution for that amount and in addition will pay $30,000 in penalties, said Schneiderman.

New Rochelle Woman Killed After SUV Jumps Curb

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A woman standing on a sidewalk was killed Sunday near downtown New Rochelle after a car jumped a curb and struck her.

Shortly before 6 p.m., Florence Reid, 56 was involved in an auto-pedestrian accident near 349 North Avenue involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.

According to New Rochelle Police, a 1999 GMC Jimmy operated by a Bronx resident was traveling northbound on North Avenue near Lawn Avenue when the vehicle mounted the sidewalk and struck Reid, a pedestrian.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino will deliver his 2016 State of the County Address on Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m. in the Central Jury Room of the County Courthouse, 111 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., White Plains.

The speech is open to the public.
