NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College softball team fell to the Hofstra University Pride Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 13 to 5 in five innings.  The Gaels had one bad inning in which they allowed eight runs, and despite two big two-run blasts from junior Kristen Turner and sophomore Tori Danner, the Maroon & Gold fell in their final non-conference game of the season.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College Lacrosse team used a balanced offensive attack to top Quinnipiac, 10-6. The Gaels picked up their second straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference road win to improve to 2-2 in league play. 

Iona’s offensive attack was spearheaded by Junior Erin Pugh, who netted four goals while also grabbing four draw controls. The wealth was spread throughout the Maroon & Gold, as six Gaels netted a goal; senior Mary Kate McCormick, juniors Katelyn Noschese, Grace Celona and Rachelle Serafini, sophomore Pamela Giordano and freshman Christine Gironda.

NEW YORK, NY -- The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) in the greater New York area edged up 0.2 percent in March. This reflected increases of 3.7 percent for energy and 0.1 percent for shelter.

The March increase in energy prices ended a streak of eight consecutive monthly declines.  Household energy prices rose 4.6 percent—the largest increase in over two years—with higher prices for natural gas (10.8 percent), electricity (2.8 percent), and fuel oil. Gasoline prices rose 2.0 percent.

Triple Lane Closure Coming to Northbound Tappan Zee Bridge During Overnight and Morning Hours Weekend of April 29

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- The Thruway Authority today announced construction for the New NY Bridge which will require a triple lane closure on the northbound Tappan Zee Bridge (I-87/I-287) beginning Friday night, April 29. One northbound lane will remain open to traffic.

Lane closures will start Friday, April 29 at 9 p.m., and continue until Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m., and then begin again on Saturday, April 30 at 9 p.m., and last until Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m.

Astorino, County Youth Board Extend Deadline for Milly Kibrick Awards Nominations

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino and the Westchester County Youth Board have announced an extension of the deadline for nominations for the 2016 Milly Kibrick awards. 

Due to fluctuations in holidays and the academic calendar, the deadline for submissions has been extended. The new date will be extended to May 6th, 2016. This extension will allow for all districts and communities to contact and submit their nominations.
