NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On April 9, 2016, over 450 participants on 23 teams joined together in the Hynes athletic center to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer. The students walked from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. showing their support for cancer survivors because cancer never sleeps.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Iona College men's basketball senior A.J. English scored 11 of his game-high 24 points in the final 8:12, and seven of his team's final 11 points to lead Roger Brown's Restaurant to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament Championship in a thrilling 85-83 victory over Norfolk Sports Club. Roger Brown's trailed by as many as 16 points with less than nine minutes to play and were down seven with 2:30 to play.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- More than 400 Latino teens from New York City, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Sullivan, and Nassau Counties will gather at New Rochelle High School Saturday, April 16 from 10:00am-2:30pm for The Fourth Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference. New York Yankees Legend Mariano Rivera will be the Keynote Speaker.

Students celebrate "Inspiration" through art exhibit

New Rochelle High School is hosting a new art exhibition titled “Inspiration Celebration” at its Museum of Arts & Culture Gallery, 265 Clove Road.

The show is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday, and by appointment from April 4 through May 2. Refreshments are served and the exhibition is free and open to the public.

Corrections Officer Assaults Girlfriend: New Rochelle police were called to the scene of a physical altercation March 15. When police arrived, the complainant was crying and had red marks around her neck. She told police that her boyfriend had just beaten her up and choked her. She told police she has a son with the man. The woman said her boyfriend threw her on the couch and began choking her during an argument. She told police she had trouble breathing but did not lose consciousness.

Elevated Levels of Lead Found in Drinking Fountain at New Rochelle School, Water Shut Off at School

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Davis Elementary School Principal Michael Galland announced today in a letter to parents that elevated levels of lead were found in a sample taken from a drinking water fountain at the school.

“Even though we believe the drinking water at Davis Elementary is safe,” said Galland. “We have decided to take an aggressive and overly cautious approach until we learn the results of the second, comprehensive tests conducted last week”
