NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino announced today that online registration is now open for swimming classes at Saxon Woods pool in White Plains, Tibbetts Brook pool in Yonkers and Playland pool in Rye.

In addition to Learn-to-Swim lessons for children and adults, new this year is an Aqua Zumba and Cardio Aqua Fit class for adults at Tibbetts Brook pool.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- For many New Rochelle residents, the antics and theatrics of Vincent Malfetano at public meetings have become something of an amusing sideshow. Known to swing back and forth between lucid legal arguments and hysterical fits of red-faced anger, Malfetano has become a source of entertainment for some and fear for others.

What few know — although the information is readily available online — is that Malfetano has a history of domestic violence.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- In accordance with the requirements of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the City of New Rochelle has released its draft annual 2015 Stormwater Report. The report is available online (www.newrochelleny.com/stormwater and at the Department of Public Works Office at City Hall, 515 North Avenue.

Comments can be made during the Citizens to be Heard portion of the May 10th City Council meeting, or directly to City Engineer James Moran (914) 654-2134.

County Parks Swimming Schedule Announced

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino announced today that the beaches at Playland Park in Rye, Glen Island Park in New Rochelle and Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson will open on a pre-season basis beginning Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 28, 29 & 30.

“Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer each year,” said Astorino. “A day at the beach is a great way to celebrate warmer weather ahead!”

Astorino noted that after Memorial Day, all three beaches will be open weekends only through Sunday, June 19.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino will join with the Junior League of Central Westchester to present the “Spa-tacular” event for survivors of domestic violence on Tuesday, May 10, at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains.  

Fifty women have accepted invitations for the day of pampering, which will include massages, make-up applications, facials and manicures. All services have been donated, including luxurious robes from The Ritz-Carlton New York, Westchester. There will also be food, snacks and other goodies to enjoy.

Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad in Costa Rica this summer.  Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the scholarship program aims to diversify the students who study and intern abroad, as well as expand the variety of countries they visit.
