NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A new playground will be built at Feeney Park this spring, thanks to a generous “Build it with KaBOOM!" Playground Grant. KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging active play through great play spaces, has partnered with MetLife Foundation for the funds, tools and resources for a custom-made playground at this popular City site. The grant is a joint endeavor between the City of New Rochelle Department of Parks and Recreation and the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino is encouraging all Westchester businesses, as well as county employees, to participate in the Be the Match Corporate Challenge during the week of May 9th – 13th.

Operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, Be the Match is the world’s largest and most diverse bone marrow registry for connecting transplant patients diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia with donors. For the corporate challenge, volunteers can either register as a potential donor or give financial support to the organization.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Doug Hocking, an architect with Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in New York City, has resigned his position as Chariman of the New Rochelle Planning Board after "conflct-of-interest" issues were raised a month ago by Talk of the Sound.

Hocking submitted a letter to New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson earlier today, according to sources at City Hall. The City Council was informed of Hocking's decision this afternoon.

Bramson had nothing but praise for Hocking.
