STATEMENT OF CONCERN: PTA Council Executive Board June 12, 2014

The PTA Council of New Rochelle requests that the Board of Education respond to our concerns about the Board’s recent business conduct.

We addressed the Board of Education verbally at meetings on April 29 and May 6, and the Board had internal discussion on those occasions as well, but to date, the Board has not taken any noticeable action to address the issues at hand.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), is proud to welcome James Y. Lee, FACHE, as Senior Vice President for Operations. 

In his new role, Lee will oversee all ancillary services and clinical support areas on the Valhalla and Poughkeepsie campuses, including pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, and respiratory care, as well as all clinical service lines.  Lee’s goal in his new position is to guide the organization’s ancillary services and service lines in continued quality improvement and growth.

Child Rapists from Guatemala Settling in New Rochelle

It is time to acknowledge that New Rochelle has a serious and growing problem with illegal immigrants from Guatemala raping children including their own daughters, importing to the United States what has become an epidemic in their home country.

In the past 90 days, there have been three convictions in cases where an illegal immigrant from Guatemala was arrested by New Rochelle police and charged with child rape.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Yordy Lopez, 24, of 174 North Avenue, New Rochelle was sentenced today to nine years in state prison after pleading guilty to one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a Class “B” Violent Felony, according to a statement issued by Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- At a recent meeting of the New Rochelle Board of Education, member David Lacher flatly denied there had been corruption in the school district despite rampant evident to the contrary, including his own example of effectively misappropriating public funds by refusing to reimburse the district for over $13,500 in personal medical expenses. Lacher claimed that while there may have been waste there had been no fraud, dismissing those who would claim otherwise.

Four Members of the Monroe College Men’s Track & Field Team Earn All-American Honors

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Men's Track & Field team recently completed its outdoor season with a fifteenth-place showing at the NJCAA National Championship in Levelland, TX.  Shortly thereafter, the USTFCCCA & NJCAA recognized four members of the team as All-Americans. Mpho Makofane was named an All-American in two different categories.
