Patric Santiago Named Head Volleyball Coach

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Iona College Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. appointed Patric Santiago as head coach of the volleyball program. Santiago comes to New Rochelle from Farmingdale State College on Long Island, it was announced Monday.

"We are fortunate and excited to have Patric as our new volleyball head coach," said Cole. "He brings a diverse background with experience both as a coach and a professional volleyball player. I'm excited to see the success he will bring to the program."

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- In partnership with the College of New Rochelle (CNR), the New Rochelle Public Library is offering a free six-week Creative Writing Class for High School Students and a free six-week Creative Writing Class for Adults. The classes will be taught by taught by faculty from the new MFA program in creative writing at The College of New Rochelle.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Lively Irish step dancing and Celtic harp music will kick-off the 33rd annual International Music and Dance series at the New Rochelle Public Library. The opening show on Tuesday, July 12th, from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, will feature star students of the Deirdre O’Mara School of Irish Dance, located in Yonkers.  Seating for the free program is on a first-come/first-served basis, to the capacity of the library’s 138-seat Ossie Davis Theater. Doors open at 6:45 pm.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Five cinematic musicals for the whole family to enjoy will be shown at the New Rochelle Public Library, in conjunction with the library’s “Summer Reading Road Trip” theme. The timeless classics will be shown in the air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library on Mondays at 6:00 pm, with no admission fee.

A.G. Schneiderman Announces the Distribution of $400 Million to Consumers from the Ebooks Settlement with Apple

NEW YORK, NY -- Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced today that the $400 million for consumers in the settlement of the eBooks litigation with Apple Inc. will be distributed this week.  The distribution will also include funds remaining from the publisher settlements, which totaled $166 million and which were mostly distributed in 2014.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --History buffs and anyone else who appreciates points of interest will be able to spend hours strolling downtown New Rochelle and exploring its storied past with a new self-guided, cellphone-based walking tour.

The “New Rochelle Downtown History Hop” launched recently at the Ruby Dee Park at Library Green. The tour features 33 stops, including churches, former theaters and buildings designed by the architects of the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials in Washington, D.C.
