NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Each weekday, the New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library continue offering a wide variety of free programs that encourage students to use the library’s rich resources and boost reading abilities while school is out. In addition to these weekly workshops at both libraries, and daily “Summer Fun on the Patio” at Huguenot Children’s Library, the library offers a number of free cultural programs for all ages  in the Ossie Davis Theater.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Police Department is participating in GTSC Pedestrian Safety Action Plan, a two-week education and enforcement period, which commenced on June 20, 2016. The program coincides with New York State’s first ever, comprehensive Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP) in an attempt to deal with the critical issue of pedestrian crashes. Warning cards and other See! Be Seen! materials have been distributed by New Rochelle police officers during the first week in lieu of citations.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- In celebration of New Rochelle's founding by French Huguenots 328 years ago, the New Rochelle Sister City Committee will present a Bastille Day ceremony on Thursday, July 14 at 10 AM. The event will take place in front of City Hall. This French national holiday, recalling the storming of the king’s political prison, recognizes the French Revolution as a result of the lessons learned in the American Revolution and ideas in our Declaration of Independence.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino invites swimmers and divers from all over the county to compete for top honors during the 91st annual Westchester County Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place in July and August.

“The athletes put a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve their goals. They are role models for future athletes and prove anything is possible if effort is instilled,” Astorino said. “I wish you all the best of luck.”

The events are sponsored by Westchester County Parks and the Westchester County Swimming Association.

NEW YORK, NY -- The jackpot for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing is $415,000,000. The $25,000,000 jump from Tuesday’s jackpot is due to brisk sales across all 44 participating Mega Millions states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot was $390,000,000 and produced over 490,000 winning tickets in New York State. With Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot now at $415,000,000, New York will see even more winners across the state.
