CNR Knocks Off Rutgers Newark in Home Opener

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle welcomed undefeated Rutgers Newark to the Wellness Center Thursday night in the Blue Angels home opener in front of a rowdy and spirited crowd.  A strong start and an intense finish resulted in a thrilling 3-1 win that improved CNR to 2-2 while handing Rutgers Newark their first loss of the season.

CNR won games by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 20-25, and 25-22.

NEW YORK, NY -- In a solemn ceremony Sunday night, Westchester County paid tribute to those who died in the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, including 111 Westchester residents and 12 former residents. County Executive Robert P. Astorino presided over the 15th anniversary ceremony that took place at The Rising, the county's 9/11 memorial at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.

NEW YORK, NY -- A team from the New York National Guard will participate in Africa's largest trade and air show in Pretoria South Africa, Sept. 12 to 18th.

The African Aerospace and Defense Airshow and Defense Exhibition is held every other year in South Africa.

NEW YORK, NY -- The New York State Office of Mental Health today announced the release of an extensive, multifaceted plan for suicide prevention, aimed at reducing New York State’s suicide rate. To guide suicide prevention statewide 1,700 Too Many: New York State’s Suicide Prevention Plan, will empower communities, healthcare professionals, and researchers with the tools they need to decrease the number of deaths by suicide.

Free Programs for Infants and Preschoolers at Libraries

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --A number of free and engaging programs for infants, toddlers and preschool children are being offered at the Main New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library (HCL) this fall. Participation is drop-in, on a first-come, first-served basis.  The programs are made possible by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library and the Partnership for the Huguenot Children’s Library.
