Men’s Cross Country Places Third at NJIT Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Men's Cross Country team ran to an impressive third-place finish out of 20 teams at the NJIT Highlander Invitational on Saturday. The Mustangs earned 125 points in the 8k run, finishing 11 points clear of the fourth-place team, NYIT. Overall results can be found here.

James Majenge finished fifth with a time of 26:33.3. Colin Battersby was the next Mustang to finish, at 17th with a time of 27:37.2. Vincent Kibunja crossed in 28:00.4. After that, Kasique Oliver logged a time of 28:38.7, while Ian Soares posted a mark of 29:01.4.

Women’s Cross Country Wins Championship at NJIT Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Women's Cross Country team ran to victory at the 5k race at the NJIT Highlander Invitational.  The Mustangs earned 110 points, five points better than the second-place team, Montclair State. Susan Ejore set a new course record and was the overall champion.  Overall results can be found here.

Iona SD Sweeps Southern Connecticut

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's and women's swimming & diving team picked up a pair of wins over Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon.

Swimming in their second road meet in under 24 hours the Iona men claimed a 166-120 win over the defending Northeast 10 Conference Champions. The Iona women picked up their first win of the season capturing a 152-126 victory.

Ryan Fulse Scores Three Touchdowns in 52-0 Win Over Thaddeus Stevens

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A balanced effort from both the offense and defense propelled the Monroe College Football team to a 52-0 win over Thaddeus Stevens College on Saturday. This was the Mustangs' third shutout of the season.

Ryan Fulse was the offensive star once again for Monroe, surpassing 100 rushing yards for the fifth time in six contests. Fulse, who is currently the top-ranked player in the NJCAA for yards per game, added to his total with 180 yards on the ground in just seven carries and scored three touchdowns. He broke an 80-yard scamper early in the second quarter.

Iona Volleyball Falls In Five Sets At Canisius

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Iona College wrapped up its western New York trip with a tough five-set loss (27-25, 21-25, 26-24, 19-25, 9-15) to the Canisius College Golden Griffs.  Iona found themselves up 1-0 and 2-1, but the Golden Griffs were able to come back and steal victory from the Maroon & Gold.

With the Gaels up 2-1, the Golden Griffs used a 15-9 run with the score tied at 10 to force the final frame.  There Canisius pounced out in front early and held off any Iona offensive charge.

Niagara Defeats Iona In Straight Sets

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College volleyball program fell in straight sets to Niagara on Saturday afternoon.  The Purple Eagles took the first set 25-18, and gathered momentum in sets two and three to finish off the Gaels, 25-16, 25-12.

Sophomore Claire Archibald had a team-high six kills.  Senior Kassandra Darnaby and junior Shaina each contributed four kills.  Campbell, Darnaby, and senior Karly White each had two blocks.  Sophomores Emma Rose and Kait Ferretti combined for 21 assists.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's water polo team (7-12, 1-4) dropped a pair of contests agianst Fresno Pacific 11-9 and host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 15-11 at the Gary Troyer Tournament in Claremont, CA.

A pair of hat tricks from junior Zach Roper and senior Hudson Grieve was not enough for the Gaels to take down the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific, falling 11-9 at Axelrod Pool in Claremont, California. Freshman Jorge Andres Torres made six saves in net.
