Men's Soccer Picks Up Key Road Win Over SUNY ESF

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Mens Soccer team made the long road trip to face SUNY-ESF in a pivotal Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup Friday afternoon.  The Might Oaks came into the game with a 3-1 conference mark, while the Blue Angels entered the day at 1-0.  

Three different Blue Angels found the back of the net to give CNR the 3-1 win and improve to 2-0 in conference play.  CNR now stands at 8-2 overall while SUNY-ESF falls to 5-2 (3-2 HVIAC).

Volleyball Wins Big in Conference Opener

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Womens Volleyball team opened Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Thursday night with a dominating victory over The Kings College 3-0.  CNR won sets by scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-13.  The Blue Angels are now 3-0 at home and have won the last five home matches dating back to 2015.

CNR improves to 5-8 on the season, while Kings falls to 0-6.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Mens Soccer team rolled past St. Joseph's College - Brooklyn 7-1 in non-conference action Wednesday night at City Field.  Freshmen Jovanni Garcia (Garden Grove, CA) tallied four times and assisted on another to push CNR to 7-2 overall while the Bears fall to 3-6.

Freshmen Oscar Guido (Kendall, FL) scored the game-winner in the 13th minute - his first collegiate goal - off a pass from fellow Floridian, freshmen Gabriel Lopez (Madrid, Spain).

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- After going ahead three times, and being tied four times with No. 15 Brown University, the Iona College men’s water polo team fell to a five-goal Bear rally in the final period resulting in a 11-9 Northeast Water Polo Association loss at Hynes Pool this afternoon.

Junior Zach Roper led the Gaels with five goals, while senior co-captain Hudson Grieve had two. Junior Pat Judge and freshman Quinn Lloyd scored one goal each.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer program dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday evening, falling in overtime to Fairfield, 1-0.  The Stags game-winning goal in the 99th minute came after the Gaels had two shots and a corner kick chance in the early portions of the extra time.

At the onset, both the Gaels and Stags struggled to grab offensive footing.  In the first half, each team combined for just five total shots.  The first sizeable threat came on the first corner kick of the game taken by Fairfield junior Ben Wignall in the 34th minute.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Event: Paul Short Invitational

Location: Bethlehem, PA

Bethlehem, PA – The Iona College men’s cross country team took first place at the Paul Short Invitational. Four members of the Maroon and Gold finished in the top-10 as the Gaels led the 8,000-meter event with 34 points.

Key Notes:

Senior Kieran Clements placed second with a time of 23:38, one second behind the winner, Scott Carpenter from Georgetown.

Junior Gilbert Kirui placed third in 23:40.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s soccer team dropped its second consecutive MAAC game to Fairfield on Saturday afternoon, 1-0.  The Gaels managed just two shots on goal of their 12 overall.  The Stags held on for the win after freshman defender Melanie Hingher scored her second of the season in the 39th minute.
