FARE Walk for Food Allergy Comes to New Rochelle,

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The FARE Walk for Food Allergy, one of Food Allergy Research & Education’s flagship fundraising, awareness and community-building programs, will be in New Rochelle with the goal of raising critically needed funds that will make a difference in the lives of 15 million Americans living with food allergies.

The FARE Walk for Food Allergy in Westchester will be held on Saturday, October 15th at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle from 1pm to 4pm.

Astorino Honors Westchester Vietnam-era Veterans

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino honored hundreds of Vietnam-era veterans in a ceremony Wednesday afternoon at the Kensico Dam Plaza. The Westchester County Vietnam Service Medal was commissioned by Astorino to honor all active duty military from all branches stationed anywhere in the world during the years of the Vietnam War. Medals were also presented to the families and representatives of the 217 Westchester residents killed in action in Vietnam.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer team fell to Marist in Poughkeepsie, NY, 3-1.  The Gaels lone goal came from sophomore Killian Colombie.

Marist got its first goal in the ninth minute on a penalty kick opportunity.  Sophomore Simon Lund Jorgeson stepped up to the dot and buried it into the left side to five the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.

Monroe Men’s Soccer 11-0 on the Season After 12-0 Victory Over Essex County College

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Men's Soccer team improved to 11-0 on the season with a 12-0 win over Essex County College on Tuesday night. Freshman Felipe Hideki led the offensive attack with four goals.                       

Ignacio Goya opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a beautiful header into the middle of the box, after Evan Finnegan streaked down the left side and played a perfect cross into the penalty area.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- City officials joined the New Rochelle Police Department at their Promotional Ceremony on October 6th in the City Council Chambers. Five members of the NRPD were recognized at the service. Family and friends were also in attendance to share in this special occasion.

National Fire Prevention Week in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- October is Fire Prevention Month, and October 9th – 15th is National Fire Prevention week. This year’s theme - “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years” - represents the final year of National Fire Protection Association’s three-year effort to educate the public about basic but essential elements of smoke alarm safety.

“Smoke detectors have expiration dates, and it is crucial to replace them within the time frame indicated by the manufacture”, said New Rochelle’s Fire Chief Louis DiMeglio.
