NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Youth Council of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau, Office for the Aging, and New Rochelle Parks & Recreation will sponsor its “Halloween Bash” on Thursday, October 27th 6:00pm – 8:00pm.  This special evening will be held at the Hugh Doyle Center, 94 Davis Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10805.   Free Admission.  Limited space. All must be pre-registered. First come first served basis.  Music will be provided as well as pumpkin gathering, face painting, games, costume contest, raffles, crafts, painting, story telling, and much more.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle residents are invited to the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration sponsored by the City School District of New Rochelle, Columbus Elementary School, and the New Rochelle Youth Bureau.  This celebration will be held at New Rochelle High School on Friday, October 14th starting promptly at 6:00pm.  Join us for a night of poetry, music, dance performances, and much more.  Free Admittance.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Youth Bureau is now accepting applications for its Youth Council.  The Youth Council offers young people, grades 8th - 11th, the opportunity to be a part of a selected group of individuals who are concerned with youth related issues within the community.  Our Youth Council sponsors community service projects and interacts with other youth organizations throughout Westchester.

All completed applications must be returned to the Youth Bureau Office (City Hall) on or before Monday, October 17, 2016

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's water polo team (7-10, 1-4) split its first two matches Friday at the Gary Troyer Tournament. The opening contest saw the Maroon and Gold hold strong in a 16-13 win against Chapman. In the nightcap, the Gaels fell to the University of Redlands 12-7.

Iona Swimming Opens Season With Win At Holy Cross

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's and women's Swimming and Diving 2016-17 campaign kicked off today with the squad taking on Patriot League rival College of the Holy Cross at the Hart Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. 

The Iona Men came away with a strong 177.5-116.5 victory, winning 13 of the 16 events contested. The Iona Women were on the short end of a back and forth meet, falling to the Crusaders146-142, despite a pair of wins from junior Kaitlyn Mahon and freshman Alyssa Chain.

GOOD DOGGIE: Chihuahua Saves Family From Kitchen Fire in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Sophie, a Chihuahua mix, barked furiously as smoke and flames engulfed a grocery bag left too close to a pilot on a stove, according to the dog's owner, The fire spread. After attempts to out out the fire with towels failed, the New Rochelle Fire Department was called.

Firefighters from NRFD Station 5, almost directly across the street from the fire scene at 501 Stratton Road, arrived within minutes and the fire was quickly knocked down.

Habitat for Humanity Westchester Annual Fall Walk-for-Homes Set for November 6th

The event will step off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday November 6th from St. Augustine’s Church on Larchmont Avenue in Larchmont, NY.

Volunteers are asked to help by completing a pledge sheet.
