Sophomores Victoria Limoncelli and Olivia DeLeo heard first-hand the stories of girls around the world who have to make that choice. Victoria and Olivia were fortunate to be invited to "Broadway Shines A Light on Girls' Education" hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama and emceed by Stephen Colbert. NEW YORK, NY -- Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the addition of eight names to the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial located at the Empire State Plaza to honor their memory, heroism and service to the citizens of New York. Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul and other state officials recognized the contributions of the eight courageous individuals at the 19th Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony in Albany today, as part of Firefighter Appreciation Day.

Astorino Unveils Plan for One-of-a Kind Ice Rink at Base of Kensico Dam

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Building on the success of “Winter Wonderland,” Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino today proposed converting the reflecting pool at the base of the iconic Kensico Dam into an ice rink during the fall and winter months. With work already underway to restore the pool’s cascading fountains that shoot water 30-feet in the air from spring to fall, the addition of skating would transform the park into a year-round destination for residents and visitors.

Westchester Families Raise Money for Local Student

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- On Columbus Day, 75 campers and 15 staff got together in support of Jordan Pryor. The girls and staff enjoyed a morning of activities run by Next Level Camp for Girls at The Ursuline School. The morning of camp was put together to raise money for Jordan who was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Cancer this summer.

The campers participated in a variety of activities that included a variety of sports as well as Art, STEM and Yoga. The morning was definitely highlighted by a visit from Jordan and several members of her travel softball team.

Schneiderman announced grant awards totaling $12.6 million to help  76 cities, towns, and villages across the state address the problem of vacant properties and so-called “zombie homes” – vacant and abandoned homes that are not maintained during a prolonged foreclosure proceeding. WHITE PLAINS, NY -- On October 10, 2016, in an effort to raisepublic awareness about the crucial role and importance of electronic records in our world, the Office of the Westchester County Clerk observed the annual Electronic Records Day.“Since we first implemented electronic recording in the Westchester County Clerk’s office in 2012, we have noticed a significant increase in the efficiency and reliance on electronic records by our customers,” remarked Clerk Idoni.  “Electronic recording makes filing easier and saves costs for customers and our office.”

Womens Volleyball Cruises Past Pratt and NJCU

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Womens Volleyball team made it eight out of the last nine games in the win column thanks to a pair of wins over Pratt Institute and New Jersye City University on Monday during non-conference action in Brooklyn.  The Blue Angels won both contests by 3-0 margins. CNR now stands at 12-9 on the season.

CNR won the first match of the day, pushing past Pratt by scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 25-11.  They then made quick ease of NJCU by scores of 25-11, 25-20, and 25-10.
