New Rochelle Police Investigating Homicide

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle police responded last night to multiple calls of a disturbance at 138 Winthrop Avenue. Arriving units located a man in his 50's with a serious stab wound to his chest in front of 138 Winthrop Avenue. The male was transported by ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where he subsequently died from the wound at approximately 1 a.m.

Responding police units also located a woman in her 30's in the vicinity believed to be a participant in this incident.

There are no suspects at large. The participants were known to each other.

John Blaskewic Obituary

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- John, 95 of Rochelle Park, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016. John was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Saddle Brook and was an usher at the church for 15 years.

John entered into active military duty with the United States Army in 1942 and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Upon his honorable discharge in 1945, he received several service medals. He retired after 36 years with the United States Postal Service.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Rita was born on June 8, 1924 and passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016.

Rita was a resident of New Rochelle, New York at the time of her passing.

She was married to Carmine.

Visiting hours will be Monday 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl. New Rochelle. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Nancy Kotonias, formerly of Bethesda, Maryland, died unexpectedly following a very brief illness on August 17, 2016, surrounded by friends and loved ones in New Rochelle, NY, where she lived. Nancy was born on May 13, 1954 in Bethesda, to Mary Alice Dean Kotonias and Andrew J. Kotonias. She graduated from the Ursuline Academy in Bethesda and in 1976 from The College of New Rochelle.
