The 17-member committee representing many constituent groups will be chaired by Board of Trustees member Christine LaSala, an alumna and former Chairperson of Willis North America, Inc.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Food Bank for Westchester, the leading hunger-relief organization serving the county’s residents in need, is calling all community groups to help fight hunger. Food Bank for Westchester has announced a new program called the Community Scoop-a-thon, which is a spinoff of its Annual Golden Scoop Corporate Competition. The Community Scoop-a-thon is a volunteer program designed to help raise hunger awareness by getting groups together to pack the most bulk food into deliverable household size packages within one hour.

Water Polo Upends St. Francis Brooklyn 16-9

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College Women's Water Polo team picked up its first MAAC victory, defeating the St. Francis Brooklyn Terrieers 16-9 Wednesday night.

Junior Hannah Schultz paved the way, scoring a game-high six goals on ten shots. Junior Devika Joshi scored three goals, as seniors Rebecca Koshy, Darby Nevins and junior Kayla Allen each scored a pair. In net, junior Britten Vilander made six saves and collected three steals.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- April’s Child’s annual "Strengthening Families One Step at a Time Walkathon” will be held at Rye Playland on Sunday, April 30th at 9:00am. Children and adults alike are welcome to participate in this fundraising event, and the first 200 registrants will receive a complimentary tee shirt and goody bag. There will be plenty of fun on hand – kids can try their luck at carnival games to earn prizes, and there will be activities and refreshments for all. Walkers can choose a 5K route or a 1/2 mile stroll all while admiring the scenery on a mid-Spring morning!

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- With nine runs throughout the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, Fordham University picked up a 10-3 home victory against the Iona College baseball team this afternoon in non-conference action.

Trailing 1-0 going into the fifth inning, Lou Matarazzo put the Gaels (5-8) ahead 3-1 with a three-run blast to left center on a full count to score Sean Breen and Fran Kinsey. Kinsey led off the inning with a single through the left side before Breen walked on four pitches to set up the inning.

Men’s Basketball Defeats Indian Hills in Nationals Opening Round

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Head Coach Jeff Brustad certainly got a memorable 400th win at the helm of the Men's Basketball team on Tuesday. The #22 Mustangs defeated #11 Indian Hills Community College, 70-64, in an upset in the opening round of the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. The game was also Brustad's 405th career win, as he earned five wins with the Women's Basketball team before switching to coaching the men.

Gaels Conclude Cape Fear Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College golf program finished tied for 13th in its first spring competition at the Cape Fear National Intercollegiate held at the Cape Fear Country Club.  After three rounds the Gaels tallied 958 (+94); their best score came in the final third round at 311.

Sophomore Devin Delisle was the program’s top individual competitor with a score of 228 (+12).  He placed 24th, using a second round score of 71 (-1) to perch himself among the upper tier of the student-athletes competing.
