Softball Drops a Pair to Bay Path

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle softball team dropped a pair of contests to Bay Path University on Friday.  The Blue Angels fell 7-2 and 6-2 to the host Wildcats.  With the losses CNR fell to 8-4, while Bay Path climbed above .500 at 12-11 overall.

CNR sophomore pitcher Victoria Rivera (Bronx, NY) suffered her first loss of the year and is now 7-1 overall.  She struck out five and allowed only three earned runs. Freshmen Emily Perez (Queens, NY) took the loss in game two for CNR.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A ninth inning rally fell short for the Iona College baseball program this afternoon at Lehigh as the hosts earned a 7-5 non-conference victory.

Trailing 7-4 heading into the ninth inning, the Gaels scored on a RBI double from Joe DeMaio and later loaded the bases with two outs and trailing 7-5. However, a final ground out from Lehigh (12-24) pitcher Sam Ashley earned the victory for Mountain Hawks.

Gaels Suffer Non-Conference Set Back at Stony Brook, 7-4

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College softball program was unable to climb out of an early deficit on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Stony Brook Seawolves in its final non-conference game of the 2017 spring season, 7-4.  In the defeat, senior first basemen Kristen Turner took another step climbing the Gael record book.

Iona Golf Vaults Two Spots on Final Day of Rhode Island Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College golf team moved up two spots on the final day of the Rhode Island Invitational, placing 11th among 14 competing schools.  The Gaels shot 304 (+16) in round three, led by sophomore Devin Delisle’s 75 (+3).  They finished the three-round tournament with a scorecard of 929 (+65).

The host Rhode Island won the event at 876 (+12), and Bryant University student-athlete Ryan Tombs took the individual crown with a three-round total of 215 (-1).

Iona Lacrosse Suffers Setback at Fairfield

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College lacrosse team dropped its fifth MAAC game of the season Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 13-9 contest at Fairfield.  The Stags used a 16-to-8 draw control advantage to control the tempo and counteract junior Pamela Giordano’s game-high four goals.

Fairfield and Iona battled back and forth in the first half, trading goals until the Stags closed the opening frame scoring three of the final four.  The Gaels trailed 7-4 at halftime and were constantly against the grain being outshot 13-8 overall, and 10-7 shots on goal.

Monroe Uses Home Runs to Key Win Over Westchester

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A pair of home runs from Michael Crispino and Adonis Garcia helped the Monroe College Baseball team defeat Westchester Community College, 12-1, on Monday. Monroe used a seven-run second inning to pull away from the Vikings.

Westchester struck first, getting a run off of Monroe starter Joel Urena, in the first inning. A leadoff double, a single, and a sacrifice fly accounted for the Westchester run. Urena settled down after that, not allowing another run and striking out six in five innings of work. He earned the win and improved to 2-1 on the year.

Pelham Art Center Announces the Winner of the Biennial 2017 Alexander Rutsch Award and Solo Exhibition for Painting: Sammy Chong: The Twelve

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Pelham Art Center is thrilled to announce Sammy Chong as the winner of the 2017 Alexander Rutsch Award and Solo Exhibition for Painting. The jury selected Chong from approximately 400 applicants from across the country. As the winner, he will receive a $5,000 cash prize and solo exhibition, Sammy Chong: The Twelve, at Pelham Art Center, May 5 – June 17, 2017, with an opening reception on Friday, May 5 from 6:30-8:00PM.  This biennial juried painting award and exhibition is Pelham Art Center’s only solo exhibition – all others are group shows.
