Nursing Students at The College of New Rochelle Achieve All-time High NCLEX Pass Rate

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The School of Nursing & Healthcare Professions at The College of New Rochelle (CNR) today announced that the pass rate for nursing students who took the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in the first quarter of 2017 reached an all-time high of 92.4 percent. This pass rate surpasses the School’s previous high of 91.4 percent in the first quarter of 2016—and tops the pass rate of many of the College’s peer institutions as well as the New York State and national average pass rate.

NEW YORK, NY -- In April 2017, New York State’s private sector job count increased by 4,700, or 0.1%, to 8,032,300, according to preliminary figures released today by the New York State Department of Labor. Since the end of the State’s recession in late 2009, New York has added more than one million private sector jobs. Since the beginning of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s administration, New York State’s economy has added 938,200 private sector jobs and experienced employment growth in 64 of the past 76 months.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Patriot-News, a leading newspaper in central Pennsylvania, is reporting that John Gallagher has been fired by Aramark following his indictment on federal corruption charges.

According to the paper, 

Harrisburg [School District] board members last year approved a three-year renewal of Aramark's contract worth nearly $3 million to provide maintenance services to the district.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Representatives from the town and school district of Berezhany in the Ukraine spent this week in the City School District of New Rochelle. The visitors were here to tour the district's schools and gain an understanding of U.S. teaching methods and curriculums.

Iaroslava Senyshyn, English language teacher, Halyna Mykhalchuk, director of the Department of Education, and Oleh Venchur, Berezhany mayor/councilman, will return to Berezhany with plans to improve their students' education and help rebuild their struggling schools.

Poetry Out Loud Spotlights Young Student Writers

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On Monday night, poets and poetry fans gathered for the nineteenth performance of Poetry Out Loud, an annual event presented by the Jeremy Scheinfeld Publishing Center, a program of the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence.

More than 70 elementary and middle school students from across the district read their original poetry on stage during the Fund's flagship event.

New Rochelle's mayor, Noam Bramson, returned to emcee the evening for the 18th time - he's only missed one since being master of ceremonies for the inaugural event.
