They will be shown on alternate weeks on Cablevision Channel 76 on Mondays at 7 pm, Wednesdays at 10 pm. Thursdays at 9:30 pm. They will later be shown on demand at www.vimeo.com.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- To provide students with greater opportunities to visit and explore a variety of nearby work environments, My Brother’s Keeper New Rochelle launched “Take a Student Ambassador to Work Day” on April 27th to coincide with the national “Take Your Son/Daughter to Work” campaign.

31 students -- including a mix of MBK male Student Ambassadors and female students from New Rochelle High School’s Girls Mentoring Club -- participated in one-day externships at corporations and organizations in Manhattan, New Rochelle and throughout Westchester County.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --      The four candidates for two New Rochelle Board of Education openings and the unopposed incumbent for a New Rochelle Public Library Board of Trustees slot have been invited to a Candidates Forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New Rochelle on May 8, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Library’s Ossie Davis Auditorium, 1 Library Plaza.

The election is May 16 and will include voting on the school and library budgets.

City of New Rochelle Celebrates Arbor Day with Tree Plantings

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City of New Rochelle celebrated Arbor Day by planting two willow trees in Huguenot Park, on the corner of Eastchester Road and North Avenue on Friday, April 28. Mayor Noam Bramson, City Manager Chuck Strome, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Bill Zimmermann and Arborist Paul Rebholz were joined by children from the Preschool Learning Center and students from New Rochelle High School science teacher Dr. Patrick Cushing’s Flora and Fauna class.

Westchester Parks Foundation Announces Thalle Industries as the Sponsor of Anti-Graffiti Program “Graffiti Squad” During Kick Off of 2017 Season

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester Parks Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advocates for Westchester County’s 18,000 acres of parks, trails and open spaces, today announced that Thalle Industries has volunteered to be the sponsor of its anti-graffiti volunteer program, “Graffiti Squad.”

As part of the sponsorship, Thalle industries has agreed to donate $40,000 to the organization, including the purchase of a Ford F-150 pick-up truck to transport equipment to and from cleanup locations, which was unveiled at the press conference today.

New Rochelle Man Sentenced in the Shooting Death of an Iona College Student

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Stivenson Desir (DOB 11/12/96) of 759 Main Street, New Rochelle, New York was sentenced by Judge Barry Warhit  to twenty-five years to life in state prison after having been found guilty by a jury of:

•one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A” Felony,

•two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, class “C” Felonies, in the death of Brandon Lawrence.
