NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Grand Market Downtown kicks off its season this Saturday, June 3. The market features farm-fresh food, artisan crafts, live music and kids' activities, all in Ruby Dee Park on Library Green. The grand market was started several years ago by the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (BID), and it has since evolved into both a farmers market and a weekly family festival.

PELHAM, NY -- From Tuesday, June 13th through Thursday, June 15th, The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) will host the third annual edition of the Ecuadorian Film Festival in New York (EFFNY) at its iconic 1921 theater in Pelham. One of seven theaters acting as venues for the festival, TPH will screen three of the juried, Sin muertos no hay carnaval (Such Is Life in the Tropics) on June 13th, Alba on June 14th, and Translúcido (Translucid) on June 15th. All films will be shown at 7:30 p.m.

New Rochelle Man Charged with Second Degree Murder in Asphyxiation Death of his 7-Year Old Daughter

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Neil G. White, 47, or 3 Arbor Lane appeared in New Rochelle City Court this afternoon before Judge Anthony Carbone after being charged with Second Degree Murder in the asphyxiation death of his 7-year old daughter. He did not enter a plea. He was not granted bail but remanded to custody while awaiting trial. He is due back in court on June 15.

The victim is Gabriele White. The cause of her death is believed to be asphyxiation by suffocation pending confirmation by the Westchester County Medical Examiner.

Police Investigating Suspicious Death of 7 Year Old Girl in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Police Department is currently investigating the suspcious death of a young girl. This afternoon at approximately 3:18 p.m.were called to the home on Arbor Glen on a report of a male bleeding from wounds to his wrists. Inside the home, officers discovered the body of a 7-year old girl in her bed apparently deceased. The cause of death has not yet been determined. This according to a statement issued by the New Rochelle Police Department.

Ray Rice NOT Hired as Football Coach at New Rochelle High School, Despite News Reports to the Contrary

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City School District of New Rochelle has formally denied that former NFL star Ray Rice has been hired as a football coach, on a paid or voluntary basis, or in any other capacity.

Last week News12 ran a story claiming that Rice had been hired as an Assistant Coach. The Journal News reported that Rice’s role as a coach with the team was “official”. New Rochelle coach Lou DiRienzo told the paper Rice has been working as a volunteer football coach for the last three years. “"Everything is the same” said DiRienzo.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Michael E. Newman was fired Monday from his position as an hourly worker in the New Rochelle Department of Public Works after Talk of the Sound began an investigation into his hiring late last week.

A little over a year after the City of New Rochelle joined more than 100 cities nationwide to "Ban the Box" on its municipal job application, the Public Works Department unwittingly hired Newman, a sexually violent predicate sex offender, as an hourly employee in the New Rochelle Sanitation Department.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- News12 reported Thursday that former Baltimore Ravens All-Pro Ray Rice has officially joined the coaching staff of the New Rochelle High School football team. He has volunteered his time with the team over the past three years, according to the report.

Two weeks ago, Ray Rice was indicted into the New Rochelle Walk of Fame.
