Anti-Muslim, Anti-Immigrant Flyers Left on Car Windshields Across from Trump Tower in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Virulent, graphic anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant flyers were distributed in the area across the street from Trump Tower in downtown New Rochelle overnight. The flyers were placed on the windshields of dozens of cars parked in the area of LeCount Place from Main Street to Franklin Avenue and from Main Street to Memorial Highway.

"The contents of the flyer are graphic and disturbing." said City Manager Charles B. Strome. "We take incidents like this very seriously and the New Rochelle Police Department is actively investigating."


New Rochelle Health & Safety Committee Releases Construction Report

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City School District of New Rochelle's District-Wide Healthy and Safety Committee ("RESCUE Committee") released today a comprehensive summer construction report at today's meeting at City Hall.

The Construction Report primarily covers New Rochelle High School, Isaac E. Young Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, the sites of the most involved construction work, Not all areas of all schools will be open by the start of school. Areas like main entrances and parking lots are expected to be completed by September 6th.

City Contractor Illegally Dumping into New Rochelle Waterway

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- This past May local and state officials celebrated a $250K New York State grant for the remediation of Beechmont Lake.

At a lakeside ceremony on May 31, New York State Assemblyman Steve Otis announced the state grant was to "help restore the ecological health" of Beechmont Lake.

New Rochelle City Council Member Barry Fertel spoke about using the grant money for "the enhancement and improvement of the lake.”

Mayor Noam Bramson said the funds "together with a strong commitment from the City" will endure the lake is "protected and preserved".

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Alvin & Friends Restaurant was the primary beneficiary of a 2014 change in the pricing of Sidewalk Cafe Permits from a fee based on the area taken up by a restaurant's outdoor seating to a fee based on the number of seats in a restaurant's outdoor dining area.

MaryEllen was born on August 14, 1956 in New Rochelle, to the late Philip, Sr. and Mary (Carello) Mercurio.

She is survived by her husband Herbert J. Kitay whom she married on April 7, 1979; her son Jeffrey and his wife Vasiliki; her six grandchildren, John, Jeffrey, Ava, Alexa, Sophia and Rose and her brother Philip Mercurio, Jr.
