NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- With more than 8.6 million square feet of downtown space pre-approved for fast-track development by a designated master developer, the City of New Rochelle is the perfect location for Amazon’s second corporate headquarters.

That’s the message the City of New Rochelle has sent to Amazon in a campaign to win designation as home of a new, multi-phase, corporate center eventually expected to employ as many as 50,000 people and attract some $5 billion in capital investment.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On Oct. 28, all are invited to join in the fun at the annual Merchant Urchin Costume Parade, lining up at 9:45 a.m. on New Street in New Roc City, in front of the Regal Cinema. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., file through downtown, then proceed to the Library Green, for treats, pumpkin painting, face painting, a Halloween photobooth, crafts, balloons and more! This family-friendly event is presented by the BID, the New Rochelle Parks Department, the New Rochelle Public Library and the Grand Market.

Hepatitis a Exposure at a Port Chester Restaurant

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- The Westchester County Department of Health is recommending that individuals who ate or drank at bartaco, a restaurant in Port Chester, between October 12th and October 23rd receive preventive treatment against Hepatitis A, a viral illness that affects the liver. The health department learned today that an employee with the illness worked at the restaurant while infectious.

Preventive treatment is only effective if given within two weeks of exposure.  Therefore, those

All City School District of New Rochelle Schools will Let Out 15 Minutes Early on Tuesday, Oct. 31

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Notice: All City School District of New Rochelle schools will let out 15 minutes early on Tuesday, Oct. 31, as the district runs a state-required Emergency Preparedness Drill.

Grade school students can expect to be at their afternoon drop-off points early. In accordance with the District policy initiated this year, parents, guardians or other designees must be at the stops to collect kindergarten and first-grade students or the students will be returned to the schools.

The Young Literati Celebrated the Completion of their Books

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The young literati at the Henry Barnard Early Childhood Center celebrated the completion of their books today with a Publishing Party. Judy Badillo's kindergarten students had just finished penning their volumes in a writing unit that comes from Teachers College. So they invited Lynne Ingram's second graders over to read to them.

The second graders brought a surprise: literary prizes for the kindergarten authors to wear proudly.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Lou DiRienzo reminded his players this week that New Rochelle's last two sectional quarterfinals have not gone exactly as planned. Both games — with his Huguenots as a home favorite — were decided by a touchdown and were in doubt in the final minutes.

"Two years ago we beat Mamaroneck 28-20 and had to intercept a pass at the end. Last year we beat Carmel 6-0," senior Jared Baron said. "So we just had to come out here and do what New Rochelle does, which is win big."
