GETTING RESULTS: Former New Rochelle Schools Director, Aramark Consultant John Gallagher Pleads Guilty To Corruption

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- John Gallagher, the former Director of Environmental Services for the City School District of New Rochelle, pled guilty before U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Karas in White Plains federal court to bribery in connection with a scheme to solicit bribes from an outside contractor to channel school district business to the contractor’s company. The guilty plea was accounted by Joon H. Kim, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Two Alarm Fire Rips Through Multi-Family Home in New Rochelle, 1 Firefighter Injured

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Firefighters called a second alarm immediately upon arriving at a structure fire at 48 4th Street in New Rochelle’s West End.

The building owner pulled up to his house shortly after 9:30 a.m. with his wife and daughter in his car to find the first and second floor on fire. No one was in the home at the time.

The fire was declared under control 45 minutes later, said Deputy Chief Scott Bradley.

One firefighter suffered a wrist injury, said Bradley.

The movie tells the story of the early years of Thurgood Marshall, who became the first African-American justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.

The discussion after the movie will be led by MBK New Rochelle Co-Chair Jared Rice, a New Rochelle City Councilman, with guests Family Court Judge Kathie Davidson and civil rights attorney William Wagstaff III.

10/29 Iona MBB To Host Army In Hurricane Relief Exhibition 8 PM

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's basketball team announced the addition of a charity exhibition game to its preseason schedule. The Gaels will host Army West Point next Tuesday, October 24, at 8 p.m. at the Hynes Center. Tickets are on sale now and all proceeds will support hurricane relief efforts in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Texas.

Money raised for the exhibition will be contributed to three organizations: Fondos Unidos de Puerto Rico, the Greater Houston Community Fund, and the Florida Disaster Fund.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County residents can bring their dogs, cats and ferrets in for free rabies vaccinations on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Humane Society of Westchester, 70 Portman Road in New Rochelle.  No appointments are needed and walk-ins are welcome.

Cats and ferrets must be in carriers and dogs must be on a leash. Aggressive dogs must be muzzled. No examinations will be given and all pets must be supervised by an adult.
