Thruway Authority Launches E-Zpass Discount for New Customers

NEW YORK, NY -- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced the launch of a $10 E-ZPass discount for new customers to encourage motorists to sign up for the most convenient and cost- effective way to travel New York toll roads, bridges and tunnels. More people than ever are using E-ZPass, as sales of On-The-Go tags jumped 22 percent in 2017 from 2016, setting a new record of 131,175 tags sold. Sales of On-The-Go tags have more than doubled since 2012.

New Rochelle Opera Presents Operatic Lovefest

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Opera will present an OPERATIC LOVE FEST, on March 11th, 2018 at 3:00 pm. The fundraiser concert will be held at The Fountainhead in New Rochelle, NY. All proceeds will support the Company’s 2018 production of Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme.

“We haven’t presented a Love Fest concert since 2014,” said NRO Artistic Director Camille Coppola. “It was an extremely popular event with our patrons, so we decided to bring it back this year.”

Iona Prep Scholar-Athletes Commit to Play College Football as part of “National Signing Day”

This puts Iona Prep at the top of Westchester County schools both in terms of Division I and overall commitments.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Columbus Elementary's recent STR2EAMing to LEARNing Convention was a huge success, with hundreds of students showcasing their STEM-based research and inquiry-based projects to family and friends.

Columbus Principal Michael Galland said all 41 classes were involved in the two-day convention, which focused on Science, Technology, Reading, Research, Engineering, Art and Math.

"We Are One" Nominations Due Feb. 28

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Special Education PTA (SEPTA) is accepting nominations for its 2018 "We Are One" Awards, which recognize and honor people in the district who ensure students with special needs are included in all aspects of the school and greater New Rochelle community.

The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, Feb. 28. Awards will be presented at the May 3 "We Are One" awards dinner. A separate award will recognize students who include special needs children in activities and friendships.

Black History Celebration Offers Song, Dance, Arts

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- With song and dance, arts and crafts, and novels offered by the authors who wrote them, schools throughout the District celebrated Black History Month at New Rochelle High School last Saturday.

The Jefferson Elementary School Special Chorus sang about the Underground Railroad. The Henry Barnard Early Childhood Center Kindergarten Chorus and the New Rochelle High School Renaissance Choir were also among the performers.
