Thirty Students from the New Rochelle High School Chapter Helps Out at Providence House in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Thirty students from the New Rochelle High School chapter of the National Honor Society spent four hours last Saturday helping out at Providence House in New Rochelle, cleaning the outdoor patio and windows, polishing woodwork, and helping to sort the pantry and performing other chores.

The project was organized by NHS Executive Board members Daniela Valdovinos and Alissa Johnson.

Report Bullying, Other Issues Anonymously

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- If you see bullying or other taking place in the New Rochelle public schools, there is now a way to say something anonymously.

The district’s anonymous reporting system, Anonymous Alerts, is up and running for students, parents and staff to report bullying or other troubles.

The app is not yet available for smartphones. That’s coming soon.

An Exhibition of Artwork of Students Works

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Last November, the Museum of Arts & Culture in New Rochelle High School displayed the works of world-renowned (and New Rochelle-based) 3D pop art master Charles Fazzino.

Now it's the students' turn. The museum is featuring an exhibition of artwork from across the district inspired by Fazzino's distinctive whimsical style.

It's called "Bedazzled by Fazzino," and it's on display through May 9.

Two More New Rochelle High School Students Indicted in Death of Valeree Schwab, Bringing Total Arrests to Four

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- A Westchester County Grand Jury has indicted Z’inah Brown for the January stabbing death of another New Rochelle High School student, 16-year-old Valeree Schwab.

Brown has been indicted on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class A-1 felony, Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class B felony and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor. 

New York State Organized Crime Task Investigation on Gambling and Loan Sharking in New Rochelle Nets 13 Arrests

NEW ROCHELLE – 13 people, most from New Rochelle, were arrested and indicted today as part of a long-term investigation by the New York State Organized Crime Task Force. 10 individuals were indicted on charges stemming from the alleged operation of lucrative loan sharking and gambling activities controlled by the Lucchese Organized Crime Family, said New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman.

The Third and Final 2018-19 Budget Information Session

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The third and final 2018-19 budget information session will take place tonight, March 27, at the public portion of the Board of Education meeting, which begins 7 p.m. in the Henry Barnard Early Childhood Center, 129 Barnard Road.

Tonight's budget session focuses on curriculum and instruction.

It was originally scheduled for March 20, but a snow day on March 8 pushed the schedule of budget sessions back several days.

The Planetarium at New Rochelle High School Re-opens Tonight

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The planetarium at New Rochelle High School re-opens tonight (March 28) to show off what its brand new Spitz SciDome projector can do.

Astronomy teacher Bruce Zeller will offer a presentation on planets and other celestial entities in a show that is free and open to the public.

Star-gazers will also be treated to projections from "Irving," the original opto-mechanical projector, dating back to 1970s, that still rises from the floor with a dramatic flourish.

Enjoy it all in one of the 85 new reclining seats.

A Group of New Rochelle High School Students is Travelled to Washington D.C. to Take Part in the March for Our Lives to End Gun Violence

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A group of New Rochelle High School students is traveling to Washington D.C. to take part in the March for Our Lives to end gun violence. In all, about 40 people are going -- mostly students, with several teachers and parents.

They included members of NRHS's Model Congress, Junior State of America and the Human Rights Coalition.

At the same time, other members of the New Rochelle community are joining the march in White Plains at 1 p.m.

A group of New Rochelle High School students is travelled to Washington D.C. to take part in the March for Our Lives to end gun violence.
