NEW YORK, NY -- The New York State Police, the New York State Park Police and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee are partnering to ensure that visitors to state parks are buckling up for safety.

“BUNY in the Parks” is an enforcement and educational campaign to ensure that visiting motorists and their passengers properly buckle-up their seatbelts while travelling inside state parks, and to teach the importance of properly securing our youngest visitors in approved child safety seats. This year’s campaign will be held from Saturday, July 14, 2018 to Monday, August 13, 2018.

PELHAM, NY -- Pelham Art Center announces technology upgrades to the PAC Media Lab! Complete with 10 upgraded iMacs running the latest version of macOS High Sierra and the complete Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign and more.

These computers are available for use for all media arts classes at the PAC Media Lab including animation, digital photography, video game design, coding, and more. This Media Lab upgrade is made possible by a generous donation from Horace Mann High School.

New Rochelle Police Teams up with Youth for Field Day/BBQ

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle’s Mentors in Blue Program hosted a Field Day/BBQ event at D’Onofrio Park on July 11, 2018, drawing over 70 participants from the New Rochelle Police Department, Youth Bureau, North Ave Outreach program, Municipal Housing Authority along with New Rochelle middle and high school students.

Four mixed teams competed in a unique series of field day activities, allowing the youth and staff to interact, engage and explore new ways to build positive relationships. They also sat back and enjoyed conversation over hamburgers and hotdogs from Joey’s Deli.

New Rochelle School Supervisor Resigns Following Heroin Bust

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Mike Umbro has resigned effective immediately, according to school district sources.

Umbro was a senior facilities management supervisor at the Albert Leonard Middle School.

His resignation comes in the wake of his arrest on June 21st when New Rochelle police found packets of heroin shoved down his pants following a traffic stop on Fifth Avenue near City Park.

Plant Operations Supervisor at New Rochelle Middle School Busted for Dealing Heroin

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A senior facilities management supervisor of the City School District of New Rochelle is facing serious criminal charges after police found packets of heroin shoved down his pants following a traffic stop.

Michael A. Umbro, 55, of 19 Whitfield Terrace in New Rochelle, NY was arrested by New Rochelle Police at 635 Fifth Avenue on the afternoon of June 21st and charged with Criminal Possession of Narcotic Drug with Intent to Sell in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Library Offers Free Four-Day Summer Workshops for Children

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Special four-day workshops for elementary school children are being offered at the main New Rochelle Public Library in July and August.
