Custodian in New Rochelle Elementary School Busted (again) for Heroin

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- James Vincent “Little Jimmy” Bonanno, 36, a custodian at Webster Elementary School in New Rochelle was arrested earlier this week by New Rochelle Police after he was reportedly found passed out in a vehicle with a hypodermic needle stuck in his arm.

Bonanno, wearing a black t-shirt and checkered shorts, was arrested by an NRPD Officer on traffic duty at 867 Weaver Street, Bonanno’s home address.

Following Janus Decision, New Rochelle School Employees Will Learn Too Late How to Withdraw From Union for 2018-19 School Year

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- F.U.S.E., the local union representing New Rochelle District employees is still sorting out how to respond to the Supreme Court’s Janus decision.

Members of the Federation of United School Employees, the NYSUT-AFT Local 280 in New Rochelle will receive “guidance” from union officials in September on how they may withdraw from the union. For almost all of those members the guidance will come too late for the current 2018-19 school year as members typically sign an enrollment card that states they can only withdraw from F.U.S.E. in the month of August.

New Rochelle Man, a Bronx Special Educator, Sentenced on Child Porn Charges

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Tyler Davidson, 38, of New Rochelle was sentenced Tuesday by Acting Supreme Court Judge Susan Cacace to ten years probation for promoting and possessing images of child sexual exploitation. At the time of his arrest in March, Davidson was a special education teacher at Lewis and Clark High School in the Bronx. Davidson has been ordered to surrender his teaching license.

Municipal Water Usage Bill Signed into Law

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- State Assemblyman Steve Otis and State Senator Shelley Mayer today announced that Governor Cuomo has signed their legislation to simplify the process by which municipalities can access customer water usage data from private water companies for the purpose of helping fund clean water infrastructure projects. The legislation was requested by 14 Westchester local governments to assist them in obtaining water use information and help them lower the cost to taxpayers.

New Rochelle Man, 21, Dies in Tragic Crash a Week After Buying Motorcycle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Jordan Chin died today. He was 21 years old.

He was killed in a one-vehicle crash when he lost control of his motorcycle while driving on Memorial Highway in New Rochelle. Police closed streets in the area around Exit 16 of the New England Thruway for hours.

Family members gathered outside the Emergency Room at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital told Talk of the Sound Chin he was excited about driving his new motorcycle when his license arrived yesterday.

The first distribution took place on last Saturday on August 18th in South Yonkers.
