New Vending Machines to Bring Healthier Snacks for Students and Staff

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Students returning to New Rochelle High School in September will notice something new about their vending machines - healthier snacks in bright, new displays.

Through a bid process, the City School District of New Rochelle has named a single company, Vita Vending, also known as Healthy Vending Machines New York, to install and supply all machines in the District. The company is known for its focus on healthy snacks.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- When custodians in the City School District of New Rochelle wipe down desks and maintain floors, all the indoor surfaces are cleaned "beyond green." The District has virtually eliminated the use of conventional cleaning chemicals from the interior learning environment.

Instead, custodians use solutions created from water, a water-softening agent (a type of salt), and electricity produced from Orbio os3 generators in each of the schools.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On July 26 the City of New Rochelle held a Scoping Session at the City Hall for the Supplemental Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SDGEIS) for the Waterfront District which will study the impacts of developing in this area to inform the new zoning. Scoping is a process that develops a written document ("scope") outlining the topics and analyses of potential environmental impacts of an action that will be addressed in a SDGEIS.

New Rochelle Armory Murder Suspect, an Illegal Alien from Mexico, Deported Twice, Came Back a Third Time

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Talk of the Sound has confirmed that Jose F. Olmos, also known as Jose Olmos-Torres, is a Mexican national who entered the country illegally on at least three occasions and was deported twice. This according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency of the Department of Homeland Security.

“Jose Olmos-Torres, an illegally present citizen and national of Mexico, was previously removed from the U.S. as an expedited removal on two separate occasions in 2009,” said Rachael Yong Yow, Public Affairs Officer for ICE New York.
