NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- City Manager Charles B. Strome III announced the appointment of Andrew Sandor to Chief of the New Rochelle Fire Department. Sandor assumed the position on September 1. NEW YORK, NY -- Operations to shift Westchester-bound traffic on the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge to the crossing’s new eastbound span will begin at approximately 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, weather permitting. Motorists traveling on the southbound/eastbound New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) should plan for multiple lane closures and brief traffic stoppages so workers can reconfigure the landings and stripe the lanes at both ends of the new 3.1-mile span during the overnight operation. There will be no lane closures in the Rockland-bound direction.

The company provided 12,766 megawatts of electricity at 5 p.m. today to customers in New York City and Westchester County, N.Y. Before today, the high for the year was 12,635 megawatts at 5 p.m. on Aug. 29. The all-time record of 13,322 megawatts was set at 5 p.m. on July 19, 2013.
