Library Offers “Sing Your Heart Out” Workshops

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library’s “Sing Your Heart Out!” workshops for singers ages 55 & older resume this fall on Saturdays, October 6th through December 15th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, in the library’s Ossie Davis Theater. Music aficionado Robert Puleo continues to lead these popular workshops, which help participants gain confidence in singing, learn to sing in a chorale group, and have fun. The groups steadily gains repertoire for the culminating Holiday Performance, which will be presented to the public on Sunday, December 16, at 3:00 pm.

Friends of New Rochelle Public Library to Hold Big Book Sales

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The October Big Book Sale conducted by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library will take place in the library lobby on Friday, October 5th, and Saturday, October 6th, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The public may select from a wide range of gently used and highly discounted hardcover and paperback books, dvds, and more.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library and Huguenot Children’s Library will be closed on Sunday, October 7th and Monday, October 8th, in observance of Columbus Day. 

The fall hours for the Main Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library are as follows:

Main Library:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

Wednesdays: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Fridays and Saturdays: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sundays: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Huguenot Children’s Library:

Mondays and Thursdays: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Parks and Recreation hosted the 16th Annual Kids Snapper Fishing Derby on September 9, 2018. The day was also honored as “Robert A. Cerreta Day” with a mayoral proclamation for late organizer who passed away this summer.

"Carrying forth this event is a fitting tribute to our cherished Marina advocate, Bob Cerreta; what a wonderful legacy," says Parks and Recreation Commissioner Bill Zimmermann.

Westchester County School Safety Commission Holds Inaugural Meeting

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- With the school year underway, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. kicked off the first meeting of the Westchester County School Safety Commission (WSSC). In attendance were Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins and leaders representing schools, students, educators, mental health experts and law enforcement throughout Westchester County. The Commission has been formed in collaboration with County Executive George Latimer.
