NRHS Names Valedictorian and Salutatorian

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle High School has designated its top ranked students in the Class of 2019 - valedictorian Eliza Crocker and salutatorian Zachary Stone.

Both of the seniors have taken the most rigorous math and science classes, while also making time for extracurricular activities.

Crocker is captain of the Mathletes, president of the school's Junior State of America chapter, a member of the Math Honor Society and the National Honor Society and an executive with the Ignite mentor program.

New Interim Superintendent Dr. Parvey Greets Community at Meeting

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Interim Superintendent Dr. Magda Parvey took the stage at the Linda E. Kelly Theater in New Rochelle High School before an audience of more than 100 on Monday night. It was the second in a series of Town Hall meetings the Board of Education has established.

Dr. Parvey answered written questions from the audience on a wide range of topics such as security in the schools, foreign language curriculum and Advanced Placement courses.

Classes to End 15 Minutes Early on Wednesday

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- All City School District of New Rochelle schools will let out 15 minutes early on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in an annual "Rapid Dismissal" emergency preparedness drill. Buses will arrive at schools earlier than usual to pick up the students on time.

The drill, testing emergency early dismissal procedures, is required by the New York State Education Department.

Series Of Arrests For Unemployment Insurance Theft Throughout Westchester County

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Three men were arrested and arraigned for filing false New York State unemployment claims in White Plains, thereby defrauding the NYS Department of Labor (DOL) and the people of New York State out of thousands of dollars in payments. The DOL initiated the investigations, enlisted Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in New York and referred the cases to the District Attorney’s Office for this joint investigation.
