NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Board of Education President Rachel Relkin was recently confronted by questions about the integrity of the  “Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth”. Concerns were raised about the committee’s ability to evaluate any failures by the district administration when the chairman was recommended by the leader of the district administration, namely, Schools Superintendent Dr. Brian Osborne.

Relkin replied. Relkin lied.

Iona, New Rochelle Reach Agreement for the Expansion of Hagan and Spellman Halls

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City of New Rochelle and Iona College announced today a comprehensive agreement that, when fully executed, will allow for the inward expansion of two campus buildings while addressing neighborhood concerns regarding the campus perimeter, and resolving recent legal disputes.

Collaborative work between the New Rochelle City Council, City staff, and Iona College has created a framework to advance the review of additions to Hagan and Spellman Halls, currently being reviewed before the Planning Board. The agreement includes:

New Rochelle Residents Address Task Force at Public Meeting

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Seventeen residents addressed the New Rochelle Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth on Saturday, April 14, to offer suggestions and other input aimed at keeping the community and City School District of New Rochelle schools safe.

They spoke at a public meeting of the Task Force in New Rochelle City Hall. More than 70 residents attended, including many of the Task Force members.

Wrestling All-stars: New Rochelle's Jake Logan Strives for Perfection

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Jake Logan entered the wrestling room at New Rochelle High School on Thursday having just watched the opening rounds of the NCAA wrestling championships on ESPN.

The excitement of the biggest wrestling event in the country was palpable through the screen, sparking the New York state champion’s imagination. It wasn’t difficult to picture himself on that same stage one day in the near future.
