Seniors Receive Awards in Two Ceremonies

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle High School seniors received awards for academics, service, overcoming obstacles and many other achievements, all to the cheers and applause of classmates and family members in the Whitney M. Young Jr. Auditorium on Monday. The honors were given out in two sessions, the Senior Awards Assembly in the morning and the Senior Awards Ceremony in the evening.

ALMS PTA Hosts Science Festival

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Science experiments, games and exhibits enthralled students, parents and teachers at the Albert Leonard Middle School PTA Science Festival on June 5. Hosted by the PTA's STEAM Committee, it was the first science festival at the school in recent history. Among those taking part in the educational festivities was Albot, a robot created by the LEGO League Robotics Club at ALMS.

Voters to Decide on District's Revised Budget

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Voters in the City of New Rochelle will have the opportunity on Tuesday to decide on the School District's revised school budget for 2018-19. The $270,381,160 spending plan stays within the state tax cap, preserves programming and includes funds to add school counselors and several other positions as well as safety and security measures.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Anthony Stirpe, who leads the innovative writing and filmmaking class at New Rochelle High School, attended the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference in San Jose, California, earlier this month where he had the opportunity to share with Apple some of the project work developed by his students.

"During the event, I met with teams of Apple employees and upper management, and I was able to discuss what makes New Rochelle so special," he said.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A group of New Rochelle High School students who are members of My Brother's Keeper New Rochelle received valuable life and career advice from four ESPN representatives last Friday.

The ESPN staffers spoke about hurdles they have faced and transcended, how valuable internships are in college and why you need to always bring your "A Game" to the workplace. They told of the skills needed to succeed and excel, the importance of networking and the rewards of developing the confidence to "take your shot" when the timing is right.

New Rochelle Voters Approve Revised 2018-19 Budget

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Residents this week approved the City School District of New Rochelle's proposed $270,381,160 budget for the 2018-19 school year that stays within the state tax cap. The plan preserves programming and includes funds for several positions and safety measures.

The vote was 1,757-1,004. The results remain unofficial pending their formal adoption by the Board of Education on Tuesday.
