NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- School board members may be feeling a bit of whiplash this evening as the District has now had 3 people as Assistant Superintendent for Business & Administration in a month.

Frank Ferraro was “hired” by the New Rochelle Board of Education to replace Jeff White as Assistant Superintendent for Business & Administration. We had prepared a file on Ferraro who was run out of Kearney, NJ in 2014 with 2 years to go on his Superintendent contract.

20 People, Including 5 Children, Left Homeless by Apartment Fire in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Twenty people including 5 children were left homeless early Tuesday morning after a structure fire at 346 North Avenue. 

The fire was contained to one apartment but there was extensive water damage to the other apartments, according to New Rochelle Fire Department Chief Andy Sandor.

“You’ve just got to feel bad for these folks...this time of year,” said Sandor. “Just say a prayer for them.”

Five apartments were left uninhabitable. The building is the retail location of Fenway Floor Covering.

An Apartment Fire at 346 North Avenue in New Rochelle has left 25 people homeless, including 10 children.

Sincere Smith Pleads Guitly to Manslaughter in Death of Trevon Boswell

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Sincere Smith of New Rochelle pleaded guilty Thursday (12/6) to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class B violent felony, for the killing of Trevon Boswell in Mount Vernon in May 2017.

Smith faces up to 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 17, 2019.

Ozone Park Man Sentenced in Hit-and-Run Death of Tow Truck Driver on i-95

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Anthony Mangano of Ozone Park, NY was sentenced in the hit-and-run death of a tow truck operator on I-95 in New Rochelle in December 2016. Westchester County Court Judge Barry Warhit sentenced Mangano today to the 12 months already served in the Westchester County Jail.
