Pelham Art Center Welcomes New Instructors

PELHAM, NY -- The Pelham Art Center welcomes seven new instructors to its’ roster of talented teaching artists. Fall classes start September 17th and the new Faculty and the Pelham Art Center are equally thrilled. Nine new people will be coming to share their expertise with children, teens and adults in a variety of mediums that we know will be popular additions to our course offerings.

New Rochelle Police Officer Dies of 9/11-Related Illness

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Hundreds of mourners are expected for the funeral Monday of New Rochelle police officer Kathleen O’Connor. A funeral mass will be held Monday morning at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle.

O’Connor died Thursday after a long battle with a 9/11 related illness..

After the September 11th Terrorist Attack of the World Trade Center, Officer O’Connor responded to Ground Zero to assist with the rescue and recovery efforts. She volunteered her time to help other first responders sift through the debris piles.

Former New Rochelle High School Principal Paid $160,000 to Resign for Second Time

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City School District of New Rochelle spent $160,000 in taxpayer dollars in August to get from Reginald Richardson what he offered for free in July — namely, to go away.

In exchange for Richardson’s resignation and his waiver of all claims against the District, both parties agreed that Richardson would be paid a lump gross sum of $160,000 within 10 days after ratification of his Separation Agreement by the New Rochelle Board of Education.

The board approved Resolution Number 19-80-4, accepting Richardson’s registration on August 7th.

New York State Police Seek Help in Cold Case, Victim Last Seen in New Rochelle Shop in 1995

BREWSTER, NY — The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Brewster barracks are seeking the public’s assistance to help solve a 1995 cold case involving an unidentified deceased adult male.

The deceased adult male was found in a wooded area adjacent to the Garden Street School in the village of Brewster, NY, on October 9, 1995. This unknown individual’s death was ruled a suicide due to self-inflicted wounds found on his wrists.

After Second Resignation in 3 Weeks, New Rochelle BOE Bars Mention of Reggie Richardson at Public Meeting

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Hundreds of New Rochelle residents, many on hand at City Hall tonight to express support and appreciation for embattled New Rochelle High School Principal Reggie Richardson, were barred from mentioning his name during an emotional public comment period held after School Board President Jeffrey Hastie announced Richardson had resigned, effective immediately.

Speakers who did mention Richardson were cut off and rebuked by Hastie.

Many speakers, frustrated by the Voldemort-like ban, spoke more broadly of a culture of racism in New Rochelle.

The shop is owned, operated and conceived by longtime New Rochelle resident Michael Weissman (Dubb’s is for the “W” in Weissman) and offers a delicious twist on ice cream that will be a revelation to many in Westchester County.
