NRHS Senior Commended for Cancer Research

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- With all the accolades New Rochelle High School senior Zahra Masih has been accumulating for her research in cancer treatments, it may be surprising to hear that she hadn't settled on science as a career goal when she entered the school.

"I came in with the mindset that I am going to try everything and I will shut my doors as I go along and whatever is left over, that's what I'll pursue," she said.

NEW YORK, NY -- Con Edison is warning customers about a scam in which a caller says the company will shut off power for an extended period unless the customer immediately pays a deposit for a smart meter.

The scam usually targets business customers and the scammers often request payment by bitcoin.

Con Edison does not require deposits for smart meters and does not accept payment by bitcoin.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle High School Class of 2018 has marked a rare achievement – all eight Ivy League colleges have accepted at least one of the school’s graduating seniors.

With acceptances rolling in, 13 members of the class have chosen to become freshmen at seven of the Ivy League schools. (Columbia University accepted two members of the class, but both have chosen to attend other schools.)

Engel Announces 2018 HUD Funding for Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Yonkers

New Rochelle High School Principal Planning Radical Overhaul of Grading Policy

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Principal Reggie Richardson sent a letter earlier today to all pedagogical staff at the school disclosing plans to drastically overhaul the grading system at New Rochelle High School.

Under the plan, currently in committee, the school would move from a 0-100 grading system to an F-A system (whether to offer an A+ grade is under discussion). There would be no weighting for Honors/AP classes (under the existing plan honors grades are weighted by 1.05, AP grades are weighted by 1.10). Class rank would be eliminated.
