It may be difficult to locate through all the embarrassing moments (boy there have been plenty, including Sunday's 31-21 loss to the previously winless San Francisco 49ers), but it is there waiting for them on the horizon where it will manifest itself in April.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino today proposed a $1.8 billion budget for 2018 that preserves essential services, maintains the safety net for the county’s neediest residents and for the eighth straight year does not raise the county tax levy.

“This is a budget that protects taxpayers, preserves essential services and promotes economic growth,” said Astorino. “It maintains the focus of all of our other budgets, which is to run county government smartly and efficiently while keeping Westchester affordable.”

Mount Vernon Man Found Guilty of Reckless Manslaughter in Death of Girlfriend

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. today announced that Jason Myers (DOB 12/9/83) of Mt. Vernon, NY has been found guilty of:

•one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony

•one count of Concealment of a Human Corpse, a class “E” Felony in the death of Ashley McDuffie.

On or about August 23, 2016, the Mt. Vernon Police Department was contacted by a family member of the victim to report she was missing.

Coed Volleyball Tourney Returns to County Center

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Registration is open for the Westchester County Coed Volleyball Tournament, to be held Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 29 and 30, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

The tournament will be played in Round Robin format on Monday to determine the ranking of each team, with a championship round on Tuesday. The tournament will be played in two levels of competition: recreation and power recreation. Awards will be given to the winning teams. Open to participants 18 and older.

Son of Former New Rochelle Board of Education Member, 15, Dies Unexpectedly

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A 15-year old boy left his home late Sunday night to walk the family dog. When the dog later returned home without the boy, the family went looking for him. He was found unconscious and later died.

Adam Brickel, the son of former New Rochelle Board of Education Member Naomi Brickel, had several medical conditions that may have been a factor in his death, based on what the parents told police. Brickel was a sophomore at New Rochelle High School.
