NEW YORK, NY -- The Archdiocese of New York announced today that it will open Admissions for the 2018-19 School Year on Friday, December 1, 2017 – and host open house events at 133 schools across the archdiocese—including 32 in Westchester and Putnam—on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

Three Agencies Affirm Westchester’s Credit Ratings

December Holiday Closings at Libraries

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library will be closed on Sunday, December 24th and Monday, December 25th for Christmas observances. The libraries will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday, December 26th.

The libraries will also be closed on Sunday, December 31st for New Year’s Eve, and Monday, January 1st for New Year’s Day. The libraries will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday, January 2nd.

Golf Courses Close for Season December 31, 2017

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino announced that the six county-owned golf courses will close for the season after play on Sunday, Dec. 31. They will remain open until that date, weather and conditions permitting; check with the individual course.

Governor Cuomo Signs Otis/Savino Missing Persons Bill

NEW YORK, NY -- Legislation to require that reports of missing children and adults filed in New York be transmitted to the National Missing and Unidentified Remains System (NamUs) was signed into law by the Governor on November 29. The legislation, A8286B/S6739, was sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Otis (91st AD, Westchester County) and Senator Diane Savino (23rd SD, Staten Island).

The bill will promote more comprehensive sharing of missing persons data to aid law enforcement in the resolution of such cases and help families dealing with the heartbreak of a missing loved one.

Rose Ann (Caiazzo) Bongo, Mother of Isaac E. Young MS Principal, Passes at 86

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Rose Ann (Caiazzo) Bongo passed away on November 27. She was 86 years old.

She was a lifelong New Rochelle resident, and graduated from Albert Leonard High School in 1947. She became a cosmetologist and worked in New Rochelle beauty shops for nearly forty years.

She married Anthony Bongo in 1956, who passed away in 2012.

She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's Church and loved attending daily mass.
