On Thursday, November 8, 2012. Eliese S. Cutler died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Dr. John C. Cutler; mother of Dr. Stuart D. Strahl (Melissa); grandmother of Linda Strahl, Danielle Strahl-Heldreth (Jason) and Margaret Strahl; sister of the late William Egbert Strahl; aunt of the late Eric R. Olds. Mrs. Cutler grew up on the shores of Long Island Sound in New Rochelle, New York, where she nurtured an unquenchable spirit for adventure and humanitarian causes. Graduating from Wellesley College in 1939, Eliese married Dr. John Charles Cutler in 1942. She worked tirelessly in support of John's pioneering research with the United States Public Health Service, World Health Organization and Pan American Health Organization, serving throughout the United States, Latin America, India, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
Josephine Riccardi Pepe, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, beloved, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died on November 9, 2012.
Josephine was born in San Bartolomeo en Galdo, Italy. The daughter of Pasquale and Carmela Riccardi, she immigrated to the United Sates as a young teenager. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years Anthony Pepe.
She was an active member of the Danbury congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Josephine is survived by her children, Robert Pepe, Lucille Ritacco, Anthony Pepe Junior, and Ann Zaccaria. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They will all sorely miss her.
Visiting Hours will be Monday 5-9 at Lloyd Maxcy & sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl. New Rochelle, NY 10805, where a funeral service will be held on Monday Evening 7:30pm. Interment will be private.
Maria E. Gallagher, 40, of Danbury, wife of Kevin M. Gallagher died at her home on Wednesday morning, October 24, 2012.
Mrs. Gallagher was born in Mexico, November 14, 1971, a daughter of Antonio and Elena (Figueroa) Alvarez of New Rochelle, NY. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1978 first settling in New Rochelle. She attended New Rochelle schools, New Rochelle High School, Westchester Community College and received her Bachelor's degree from Albany State College and her Master's of Business Administration from Iona College.
A marketing analyst, Mrs. Gallagher was employed by the W.J.Deutsch & Sons LTD of White Plains, NY. A resident of Danbury for the past ten years coming from Mt. Vernon, NY, she was a member of St. Joseph's Parish of Danbury. Mrs. Gallagher enjoyed arts and crafts, scrapbooking and was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband Kevin of fourteen years and her parents, Mrs. Gallagher is survived by two daughters, Amanda Gallagher and Megan Gallagher both of Danbury; three brothers, a sister and several nieces and nephews.
Carmine "Mel" Moliterno, age 81, of Southbury, CT, formerly of New Rochelle, NY died on October 19, 2012.
The son of the late Felice and Louise (Crocco) Moliterno, he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 - 1953 where his bravery and valor earned him many distinctive honors including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Mel married Evelyn (Iannuzzi) Moliterno of New Rochelle, NY in 1954 and joined REC Corporation as VP of Manufacturing. In 1987 he and his son co-founded MJS Contracting Corp. where he continued to work even after his unofficial retirement.
Mel had a true love of life and his family above all. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Evelyn, and their children: Valerie (and Tony) Vanadia, Mindy (and Steve) Chanelli, and Stephen (and Michele) Moliterno, in addition to his seven grandchildren: Jessica (and Kyle) McEvily, Noelle (and Rick) Spidalieri, Daniel, Gregory & Candace Chanelli, and Alyssa & Robert Moliterno, as well as one great-grandson, Ryan McEvily. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Moliterno) Gagliardi of Coral Springs, FL.
