Begets this question. New Rochelle Republican Party do you not think it is time to change your message because it is not working.

As a North Ender I want to tip my hat to Steve Mayo and Illysse Spertus for they went out and gave it more than their best. By no means do I cast aspersions on them because the people were better than the party they represented.

Elections are every 4 years but the campaigning and reengineering of the republican message should start right now. First thing to do if this party is serious about ever gaining a foothold in New Rochelle outside of its closed circle is to start embracing the North End instead of ignoring it. How about employing a strategy instead of throwing a hodge podge of ideas out there that do not resonate with HALF of the city. How about incorporating new people and ideas. This is not the way to win elections.

Have you seen the latest mailers to come from the NR Democratic Party? The one DESTROYING Richard St Paul and taking a swipe at a the Republican Candidates for City Council posing in a group photo with Mr. St Paul five months ago. Well, I have for they were mailed to my house.

Much of what was written could be true but let me tell you politics in New Ro has gotten nasty. A layer has been peeled back from this supposedly refined Democratic Party. I have my questions about the republican party in New Ro and I don't take as much offense as to what was said as to the hypocrisy. Mr Mayor you state that you will govern with civility and respect, you demand it, but campaigning is a different ball game it seems. What is this Bogota, NJ?

The gloves are off and you as the defacto head of that party showed your true colors. This race is personal and not about the issues. Attack, bloody and then spit on the victim.

I have said this before but I will say it again. The Democratic Party/Committee in New Rochelle are like the Masons. You know who they are but no one is allowed inside the walls and to all those that break the pledge untold touble will come to you.

I have my concerns with the Republican Party in New Ro but who is more transparent? The NR GOP will post meeting notices in bagel shops and telephone polls. Not really but the point is that it is a party/group/meeting open to the public. I have never witnessed a notice of an open democratic meeting. Heaven forbid a perceived interloper show up. Meetings in secret, pledges in secret, government behind closed doors. That is how you keep a machine going.

Do I have an axe to grind? No, not really. I have chosen not to run this year and have been pretty much out of the mix in terms of politics except as a commentator on my radio show. But, between the shared campaign signs and the secrecy I feel that government is being taken away from me and those I know. Your voice counts as long as it echos ours!
