Who Benefits from New Rochelle High School Policy of "Rounding Up" Failing Grades to Passing Grades?

F6AF6C05-0242-4784-83ED-C520CA67E433.jpgIn speaking with a member of my family, it was brought to my attention that two friends of hers who have children in the high school were perplexed over their childs report card. It seems that when they added up the 4 quarters on the card, they came up with a lower average than the grade given. ie..one child should have had a 59 in math (recvd 65) a 63 in living environment (recvd 65)and the other child should have received a 60 in spanish(recvd 65). One parent called their childs counselor in House 4 and was told that it is not unusual for a teacher to give a passing final grade when he/she feels its warranted. The parent questioned this practice, asking the counselor if this was school policy. The parent expressed they wanted their child to take these courses over in summer school and that what the District is doing is in fact a disservice to their child. Allowing him to continue into the next sequential course for both subjects would be setting him up for failure.

Funny Story

ShareThis

Let me share a quick funny story that happened to me this week. I was waiting for the elevator in city hall and coming down the hall were two women (who shall remain nameless) I couldn't hear exactly what they were talking about, but just as they stopped to wait for the same elevator I was waiting for, the blonde turned to the brunette and said " yeah well, I told her to be careful, you never know if this deepthroat ass works here"
Needless to say I laughed so hard i almost spit my coffee out and I took the stairs!

District employees disobeying orders concerning computer use.

District personnel are blatantly disobeying a warning issued through inter office memo concerning the use of school computers. Although it has always been a "knowing" rule that school computers were to be used for educational purposes only, the district felt the need to remind employees of this policy once again. The memo states that Failure to abide by this rule would result in "disciplinary action."

08495B79-2DF5-4585-8E78-1CA871243473.jpgCan someone fill me in as to why the nice, new, white Dodge Hemi that Jimmy Bonanno is driving around in does not have any BOE insignias on it clearly marking it as a BOE "work" vehicle? Can someone fill me in as to why Jimmy Bonanno is allowed to use this vehicle for personal reasons? Is this a BOE owned/leased vehicle? Is the proper mileage being recorded to differentiate between business/pleasure?Why wouldn't a less expensive vehicle suffice? Please don't tell me that this type of vehicle is needed for work reasons. We all know Jimmy Bonanno does nothing! I see him driving around New Rochelle 7days a week in this vehicle. This vehicle is ALWAYS parked at his house. Did he not receive the letter(ha ha)John Gallagher sent out after the Demasi incident forbidding the use of BOE vehicles for personal reasons?
Lets see....$96,000 base pay, + $35,000 in OVERTIME = $131,000 a year AND the use of a $50,000 vehicle. Yes, when I grow up I want a job with the BOE.

CORRECTION: The vehicle was initially reported to be a Hummer worth $70,000; the article has been corrected. The vehicle is a Dodge Hemi worth $50,000.
