NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A DEA task force including members of the New Rochelle Police Department, New York State Police and New York Police Department raided a house at 71 Church Street in New Rochelle, NY on Sunday afternoon. Law enforcement agents including some DEA agents seized roughly 50 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $800,000.
A driver lost control of his car on Main street and Harrison street in downtown New Rochelle early Sunday afternoon.The car took down a city street sign and slightly damaged a city garbage pail before coming to a stop before a bicycle store front.
No injuries were reported but the car was towed away by safeway towing.
Some people walking by said thank god it was a Sunday and not durning the week when the sidewalks would've been full with Monroe students walking to classes.
A New Rochelle ambulance crew had to call the New Rochelle police for back-up early Sunday morning after they were called to 124 Horton Avenue for a EMS call and the person they were going to treat came at them with a knife.
New Rochelle police quickly got the scene under control and there were no injuries.
New Rochelle Police responded to Sound Shore Medical Center Emergency Room early Sunday morning after a person came into the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest area. Police were not able to talk with the victim as they were taken into emergency surgery.
Security personal at the hospital said the victim came to the hospital in a cab. Police are reviewing cameras in the area to determine which cab company took the victim to the hospital.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- James (Jim) O'Toole 78, A lifelong New Rochelle native and local sports writer for the Standard Star and Journal News passed away Sunday at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx after a brief illness.
For twenty-five years, Jim was a bartender at Spectators sports pub in New Rochelle.
Jim was inducted to the New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
Jim O'Toole leaves behind his loving wife Mary and three sons, Matthew, a resident in Florida, Lawrence of Greenwich, CT and James of New Rochelle, NY and three grandchildren William, Natalie and Cooper. Jim was predeceased by three brothers PJ, Frank and Jack.
He loved to write about many local kids in sports and many softball teams and there players.
Funeral information will be posted as soon as the family has made the arrangements.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday September 26 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday September 27 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m.

Many people were waiting on line this afternoon as only one parking machine was in operation at one of the city's busiest parking lots. The New Rochelle development department put two new machines in the lot and only one worked, causing significant delays and inconvenience for people parking there.

It was a perfect day on Wednesday and the Chase Building located at 270 North Avenue in downtown New Rochelle decided to do some window washing. These guys looked like they were having some fun in the sun.
I got to the polling place at the New Rochelle Public Library at 6:00am to find people already in line to vote in district 19. I was number 9 to vote.The woman and men working there were very helpful and gave out a lot of useful information on how to vote using the new machines.
When i left there were more than 15 people waiting to vote in the lobby of the building.
This was the most people i had seen out this early to vote in my 28 years of voting.
New Rochelle Police closed off a major shopping center on Quaker Ridge Road around 11:15pm Wednesday evening.
Police units from the police departments CIU unit were dispatched to the scene that has a United States Post Office, A&P supermarket and many other stores.
